You're a PURRFECT FRIEND

Hello there, crafty friends! I hope your week is going well. Today I have a card that I created for two of the My Favorite Things Challenges, the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #274 (which I flipped) and the MFT Color Challenge.

For my card I thought it would be so fun to combine two of the MFT stamp sets, Cat-itude and Tweet Friends along with the coordinating Die-namics dies to create a friendship card. I started out by die cutting and stamping my three images and then coloring them using Copic markers. Next I die cut a square of watercolor paper and watercolored in some peacock distress ink. While that was drying, I die cut some clouds and using the same peacock distress ink I sponged on some color along the bottom of each cloud. Next I stamped my sentiment onto a strip of berry sorbet cardstock and attached it to the bottom of my watercolored square along with the little flower, clouds, bird and popped up cat. Once my scene was put together, I adhered it to a piece of pure poppy cardstock which I stenciled using the MFT Diagonal Bars stencil.

Birthday Tweetings - (CTD386)

Hello and happy Wednesday! It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.

For my card, I used the fun My Favorite Things stamp set, Tweet Friends along with the coordinating dies. I had so much fun making this card! I adore anything with birds so you'll be seeing quite a lot of cards made with this set. I started out my card with a white card base which I stenciled using the MFT's Diagonal Bars stencil and some peacock distress ink, then I added a white stitched rectangle which I stamped with my sentiment and two banners, one from tropical teal cardstock the other a strip of My Mind's Eye designer paper. I should add that I used the MFT's sketch challenge from last week for my layout (it ended yesterday) because I liked it so much. Next I die cut my birds and bird cage and colored them using Copic markers. On two of the birds, I stamped them twice and colored and cut out just the wings so I could pop them up and give the birds some dimension. I adhered the birds to the cage and popped up the whole piece using foam tape. To finish off my card I added a few teal colored sequins, some white gel pen on my birds and some glaze pen to their eyes.

Wishing you a Colorful Easter

Good morning and Happy Easter to those who celebrate! My family and I will be celebrating by going to mass and getting together for Easter brunch. Today I've got an Easter card that I'm sharing using the new Papertrey Ink Simply Spring Borders.

For my card, I used a piece of watercolor paper and stamped the row of grass that comes in the SSB set and then stamped flower stems from the PTI Just Smile stamp set. After that I used my new Color Pop Florals stencil and stenciled on some flowers using hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz and berry sorbet ink. Then I sponged on some simply chartreuse and aqua mist ink for the sky and ground and misted my panel with water. Once my panel was dry, I adhered it to a berry sorbet mat and added two different colors of glitter to the centers of the flowers using a glue pen. Once that was done I die cut and stamped the cute little bunnies from the SSB set, added a bit of color to them with Copic markers and added them to my stamped panel with foam adhesive.

Celebrate Today - (CTD385)

Hi there, crafty friends! There's a new Color Throwdown Challenge starting today!

The card I have for today uses the new Papertrey Ink Color Pop stamp set and dies. I used this week's Retro Sketches Challenge #207 for my layout and I used the colors tropical teal, hawaiian shores, aqua mist, metallic gold (which does not photograph well at all) and a bit of limeade ice for my leaves. I started out with a stitched die cut tropical teal panel for my background, then added a strip of designer paper from my stash adding a thin strip of gold metallic paper along the edge. After that I adhered a horizontal strip of hawaiian shores and then adhered a piece of white card stock matted in tropical teal using foam tape. Then after die cutting and stamping the flowers and leaves from the Color Pop set I arranged and adhered them on my white panel. Once all of my flowers were in place, I die cut my sentiment from gold metallic paper and one from craft foam and glued them together. After my sentiment was dry, I added it over top of my flowers and adhered three gold sequins.

I Miss Hanging Out With You

Happy Friday! The card I'm sharing today was created using the My Favorite Things Color Challenge #41 and the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #272. I combined both challenges and used the super fun MFT's Cheeky Monkey stamp set and Die-namics. I love this set it's so cute and playful!

Along with the Cheeky Monkey set, I used the MFT's Mini Modern Blooms set for my leaves (I really need some jungle leaf dies but made do). I started out my card with a white card base, then randomly stamped a die cut stitched panel using the leaf from the MMB set. Next I cut my horizontal strips of daffodil and new leaf card stock and a die cut circle of new leaf and one from watercolor paper. I used some Crushed Olive distress ink to add some watercoloring on my die cut circle and set that a side to dry. After that I die cut, stamped and colored my monkeys and bananas using Copic markers and die cut and stamped three of the larger leaves from the Mini Modern Blooms set in new leaf. Once all my pieces were complete, I adhered them all together, using foam adhesive to pop up the monkeys and stamped my sentiment in black Palette ink.

Celebrate Today - (CTD384)

Hi there! It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

For my card using this week's colors, I used a one of the sheets that came in the Papertrey Ink Color Pop kit. I die cut my sentiment from white card stock and sponged on some lovely lilac ink along the bottom of each word. Next I used the stencil from the kit and stenciled on some of the smaller flowers and all of the leaves. After that I stenciled two pure poppy flowers and die cut those layering them together. After everything was stenciled and die cut, I stamped in the details and adhered everything onto the card front using foam adhesive to pop up the large red flower. As added details, I added some black and white bakers twine and some red rhinestones.

Rainbow

Hi there, crafty friends! Today I've got a card that I'm sharing using the fun Avery Elle stamp set, Skating By. I'm entering my card today into two challenges, the first is the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and the second is for the A Blog Named Hero Challenge. Both challenges are all about creating with Rainbow colors.

I stamped my image onto a die cut stitched panel using black Palette ink and I used Copic markers to color. Below is a quick slideshow of how I stamped my card.

Bold Blossoms Birthday - (CTD383)

Hello there! It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge #383. Our hostess for this week is Broni who chose our cheerful color palette and inspiration photo.

For my card, I used a piece of watercolor paper and stamped my sentiment in black palette ink, then using a circle die I lightly traced a circle about the size of my die cut wreath so I would know where to watercolor in some mustard seed distress ink. Once my watercoloring was mostly dry, I added some splatters of marmalade distress ink for a bit more color. One of the things you can't see from the pictures of my card today is that the watercolored yellow actually has a gold shimmer to it when the light hits it. This happened by accident because right before I made this card, I was working with some Martha Stewart gold metallic paint and had cleaned my brushes in my water cup. So when I did my watercoloring for this card the metallic paint mixed with the yellow, it's a pretty touch and I will try this again for sure. While my watercoloring was drying, I die cut and stamped my flowers, leaves, bird and wreath adding Copic marker detail to the wreath and flowers. I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Bold Blossoms, Winter Woods, Graceful Greetings and the wreath die. Once everything was dry, I arranged and adhered everything to my card front, popping the largest flower with foam tape and added three sequins.
