MTSC93 - Even Better

Happy Thursday!  Can you believe it's the last day of September already?  The older I get the faster the months and years go by.  Any who today I have a card for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge which uses more goodies from the Taylored Expressions September Key Ingredient Kit and the TE stamp set Tweet Hearts.  You would not believe the amount of projects you can create with the materials in just this one kit.  I created this box as a start and have been making cards to put inside of it to give as a gift for Christmas and I still have a lot more supplies left.

This is a close up shot of my card so that you can really see the pretty embellishments from the Key Ingredients Kit like the ribbon, rick-rack and designer brad that I used on my card.

SC300/Color Throwdown - Trendy Trees

Good afternoon! I'm going to keep this short because between the weather going from the mid 80's to the 50's here in Michigan and my husband being sick and coughing, I have a cold :( 

Today I have a CAS {clean & simple} card for two challenges, the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge #300 and the Color Throwdown Challenge.  Instead of a single image for the focal panel I chose to use the SU stamp set Trendy Trees to create four small images.  The back ground panel was embossed using the Square Lattice Impressions Folder, I added ribbon and brads and used dimensionals to pop up the trees.

Sweet Sunday Favorite - I've Got My Eye On You

This week for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Karen decided to do something a little different, she asked that each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers and anyone who participates to choose one of their favorite Sweet Sunday Sketches.  Well let me tell you it was really hard to pick my favorite sketch because there have been so many great ones that I've enjoyed using.  I ended up going with the SSS#52 and used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fillers & Friendship Jar Fall Fillers to create this Halloween card and treat bag.

Supplies: Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fillers & Fall Fillers, Jar & Label Dies, Halloween Prints PTI designer paper, Ribbon, Button, Copics, Embossing Folder, Pinking Hearts border punch-SU, Dimensionals.  Colors: Basic Black, Lovely Lilac, Kiwi Kiss, Pumpkin Pie.

I found these chocolate peanut butter eyeball candies at the drug store and thought they would make for a fun Halloween treat to go along with this card.

Papertrey September Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the September Papertrey Blog Hop!

This months challenge was:

"One of the most fun things about this hobby is the people you meet, whether in person or online, and the things you learn from them.  Now is your chance to show off any skills you might have learned from a fellow stamper, and perhaps even give them a little shout out to thank them for the inspiration they have provided.  Create a project using one of your favorite learned skills!"

Well there are so many wonderful stampers that inspire me daily that it's hard to choose just one but I would have to say that I've learned so much about coloring, shading and using Copic markers from Debbie Olson.  So thank you Debbie for sharing all of your inspiring and beautiful projects and for sharing some really great step-by-step directions on coloring with Copic markers.

The card that I created for the Hop uses the PTI stamp sets Friendship Jar and Friendship Jar Fall Fillers as well as some Autumn Abundance PTI designer paper.  I had fun coloring all of these candy corn, by the time I was done coloring and actually eating candy corn I had a total sugar rush, lol.

MTSC92/ColorThrowdown - Birthday Owl

Happy Thursday everyone and a Happy Birthday to my sweet husband Dan! 

Today I have a birthday card that I created using Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and the Color Throwdown Challenge.  These wild colors were a bit of a challenge.  I didn't have the color River Rock so I substitute and used Crumb Cake instead and I tried to follow Mercy's sketch minus a flower or something for the upper right corner.  It doesn't really show from this picture but the owl's eyes were pop up which gives him some fun dimension.

Supplies: Curly Cute, Melon Mambo DSP, Owl punch, Bird punch, Scallop border punch, Ribbon, Nesties, Square Lattice Impressions Folder, Dimensionals.

SC299/CQC#51 - Cheep Talk

Good afternoon!  Today's card share is for two challenges, the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge and the Colour Queen Color Challenge.  I used the Stampin' Up stamp set Cheep Talk {which hasn't seen ink in a while} and decided to flip the sketch upside down.

Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past Blog Hop

Are you ready for some FUN?  I hope so because today is the Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past Blog Hop!  For my card I chose to use this week's Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #128 and the September Key Ingredients Kit along with the TE Discover Your Wings stamp set. 

In this close up shot of the butterfly you can see how I used some of the designer paper from the KI Kit to paper piece the butterfly image.  I also stamped the image twice, cut and popped up the wings to give it some dimension.

It's always so fun going on a Blog Hop and seeing what everyone has created and to add to the fun one random participant will be selected to win the Taylored Expressions stamp set of their choice and another fabulous creation will be featured in an upcoming TE newsletter!

Thankful for FALL

Today I have some pictures to share and two fall cards for two different challenges, the first one is a SUO {Stampin' Up Only} card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge using the stamp sets French Foliage and Grateful Greetings.  The base of the card is Early Espresso with an Square Lattice embossed panel of Cajun Craze.  Then I added a panel of Really Rust along with a strip of More Mustard.  The leaves from the French Foliage set seem to stand out better when I stamped them individually and then filled in with other stamped leaves and images from the set.  I then sponged with Early Espresso ink around the outer edges of my main image and sentiment and added the three brads.

This second card is for the Papertrey Peeps Challenge which was to create a card using a tag with a focus on sentiments.  I'm not sure my tag actually looks like a tag but I guess tags come in all shapes and sizes.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Falling Leaves and Friendship Jar Fall Fillers for the Autumn Wishes.

This is the farm down the street from our house that I some times visit to purchase fresh sweet corn and vegetables and I couldn't resist snapping a few shots yesterday while I was there.

Mary {the owner} always has the best produce and has such a pretty display of vegetables.

Check out this antique wheelbarrow filled with fall goodness.

SSSC86 - You Make Me Smile

It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!  Nancy McKinney is joining the Sweet Sunday Stampers again this week and also designed the sketch for today.  For my card I used the Taylored Expressions stamp set Tweet Hearts and the September Key Ingredients Kit.  The designer papers in the KI Kit are so pretty, the colors and patterns all go so well together and I love the different colored pearl brads that come in the kit like I used in the center of the flower on my card.

Birthday Wishes

Hello friends!  Today I have a birthday card that I created for my friend Vicki who's birthday is today (she received this card yesterday).  Happy Birthday Vicki I hope you have a wonderful day!

I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Four of a Kind and used the colors from the Colour Queen Challenge to create this card.  I substituted the colors Peach Parfait for Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz for Kiwi Kiss because I didn't have those colors.  I really do love this bold color combo and will have to use it again soon.

Sympathy Cards

Happy Thursday everyone!  Today I have a few sympathy cards I had created a while ago for some friends who had lost loved ones.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Blooming Button Bits and kept them clean and simple. 

Supplies: Blooming Button Bits, Nestabilities dies, Ribbon, Buttons, Square Lattice Impressions Folder, Scallop Trim border punch, Corner Rounder, Dimensionals.  Colors: Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, So Saffron.

Today was also my youngest son's first day of preschool.  He was so excited to go and start his day at school and he did great!  He had a fun morning and can't wait to go again next Tuesday.

Taylored Expressions September Key Ingredients Kit

Hello and welcome to my first post as a member of the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Design Team!  I'm very excited to be a part of this team and to work not only with Taylor VanBruggen and the talented women on the team but with the wonderful products that Taylored Expressions sells.  Each month Taylored Expressions releases a new Key Ingredients Kit which includes designer papers, card stock, ribbons and embellishments.  To see the September Key Ingredients Kit that I've used on my project today you can click here.  If you'd like to see the KI inspiration gallery from last month you can click here or to subscribe to receive a monthly Key Ingredients Kit for yourself you can click here.

Taylor's challenge that she's issued to the women on the Key Ingredients Team was Restoration: making the old new again, to re-purpose, re-use, or recycle.  So with that in mind I dug through my stash of containers and odds and ends that I've saved with thought of re-using and found a box that had come in the mail with a credit card offer.  The box was not much to look at but the perfect size for a card box to decorate, fill with cards and give as a gift.

When my Taylored Expressions KI Kit came in the mail I was very impressed at the quality of the products right down to the way it came packaged.  The designer papers from the kit are beautiful and the textured card stock is the perfect weight for card making and crafting.  Everything from the ribbons, papers and embellishments are color coordinated and work together wonderfully. 

To create my card box I sponged ink on the very edges of the entire box and then covered the outside and inside using the textured card stock from the kit.  I used the adorable TE Tweet Hearts stamp set and stamped the main panel on the top of the box, the circle on the inside lid and cards enclosed.  For the top of the box I went with the floral print designer paper from the kit and for the sides of the box and inside lid I used cut strips of one of the designer papers which had pretty border prints on it (see below picture of inside lid).

This is a close up picture of the inside lid of the box where I used one of the pretty doily transparencies that come with this month's kit behind my focal image.
