Bee Happy - CTD495

Good morning!  It’s time for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge. This week we have the colors navy, burgundy and gold.
For my card, I used the Flora and Fauna stamp set, Bee Kind. I love the happy little bees and illustrated flowers that come in this set. I could have made this card into a shaker card but decide to leave it simple and just go with a shadow box open window. To create my card, I die cut a piece of watercolor paper using a hexagon die and stamped my images and sentiment in black Palette ink. Next I used the hexagon die that was smaller than the one I originally used and I lined it up and die cut my stamped panel again creating a frame. After that, I did some watercoloring to my images, (leaving the stamped images on my frame piece black and white). On my watercolored piece, I also stamped the honeycomb image in harvest gold ink three times and sponged some of that color along all the edges. To add some dimension, I stamped the larger bee onto watercolor paper, watercolored it and die cut it using a small hexagon then added it to the panel with foam tape. I die cut a piece of enchanted evening cardstock using the hexagon die, then glued on the white frame then added foam tape to the backside and adhered it to a white card base then adhered the watercolored hexagon flat to the card right inside. To a touch of sparkle, I added some Icicle Stickles to the large bee wings and some tiny yellow rhinestones to five of the flowers.

DEEPLY in love

Happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing an anniversary card that I created last week using the new Lawn Fawn Stamp set You Are Sublime. I’m also entering this card into the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #29.
To create my card, I started out by stamping a bunch of the cute images from the You Are Sublime and then using the You Are Sublime dies, die cutting them out. Then I took a white card base and started playing with which images I wanted to use and how I wanted to lay everything out. Once I knew what I wanted to do, I used the new Stitched Wave Border dies and die cut some watercolor paper. Once my watercolor paper was die cut, I sprayed it with water and then dropped in the distress ink colors peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon and twisted citron that I had smudged onto a piece of acetate. Once my watercoloring was slightly dry, I added some water droplets and some splatters of white paint. Once it was totally dry, I blended on some peacock feathers distress ink along the edges. I also die cut my ocean floor using the Stitched Hillside Borders die and some kraft cardstock and using a paint brush added some flecks of brown paint. After that, I blended on some tumbled glass distress ink along the top of a white card base and adhered my ocean with die cut waves and the ocean floor. Next I colored all of my images with Copic markers and adhered them to my card, popping up the divers, lobster and two of the coral pieces. I also added some Glossy Accents to the bubbles and hearts to give them some glossy dimension.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m in need of some more birthday cards, so I’ll be creating a batch using some of the fun new Lawn Fawn stamps I received last week so stay tuned.

Flower Arrangement - CTD494

Hello! I hope your week is going well. It’s time for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge.
For my card, I used the Altenew stamp set Flower Arrangement along with the coordinating Flower Arrangement dies to create a birthday card. I went with a clean and simple look for my card, starting out with a white card base then I blended on some stormy sky distress ink using a Papertrey Ink stencil to give my background a soft texture. Next I stamped my birthday sentiment from the Altenew stamp set, Painted Greetings and added a strip of enchanted evening cardstock right above my stamped sentiment. After that, I die cut all of my flower and leaves and stamped them in PTI inks, berry sorbet, pure poppy, spring rain, enchanted evening, spring moss and ripe avocado. To add a little sparkle, I used some red and blue Stickles glitter to the centers of each flower and glued on some iridescent sequins in my background.

Toadally Awesome

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! Today is Wednesday and the start of a new Color Throwdown Challenge. We have the colors aqua, green and white to create with this week.
For my card, I used the adorable new Lawn Fawn stamp set Toadally Awesome along with the Toadally Awesome dies to create a Father’s Day card for my husband. I started out by stamping all of my images and coloring them with Copic markers and then die cutting them out. Next I used the distress ink colors tumbled glass, twisted citron, peacock feathers and blended them onto a piece of white cardstock for my background. I then took a paintbrush and added some water droplets to my blended panel and soaked them up with paper towel. After that, I used the Grassy Hillside Border dies and die cut two from new leaf cardstock and then blended some new leaf ink along the edges on both pieces. Next I die cut the pond from the Bayou Backdrop die and blended on some tumbled glass distress ink along the edges. Before I adhered anything down, I lined up my sentiment and using my Misti tool, I stamped it in black ink. Then came the fun part, putting my scene together. I added the lily pad in the pond and popped up the “Dad” frog with one little frog on top using foam tape, added some cattails, a dragonfly and the two other small frogs (we have three children) sitting on the log which I popped out with foam tape as well. To finish it off, I added a white stitched frame which is actually the Bayou Backdrop with the leaves cut off.

A Whole Lot of Lovely - CTD491

Hello there!  It’s time for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge!
Welcome to our May Guest Designer, Rachel Avarado.
For my card, I used the My Favorite Things stamp set Springtime Blooms along with the Springtime Blooms die-namics and an old favorite, Cat-itude with the Cat-itude die-namics. I kept my card fairly clean and simple. I used a white card base and blended on some berry sorbet ink using a Diagonal Bars stencil. Next I used the Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle dies to create a frame with kraft cardstock. I also die cut a circle of berry sorbet cardstock and blended some berry sorbet ink along the bottom. Next I die cut a Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips die and stamped my sentiment from the Springtime Blooms set. After that, I stamped my images and colored them with Copic markers and die cut them out. I adhered them to my layout, popping up the cat with foam tape.
