Thinking of You - CTD486

Good morning!  It’s Wednesday and time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge. Our colors for this week’s challenge are peach, pink and apricot with a lovely inspiration photo.
After looking at the inspiration photo and seeing all of the beautiful blooms, I thought the Altenew Floral Fantasy stamp set would be perfect to use. I started out with a white card base, then used the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies to die cut a piece of white cardstock which I blended on some tattered rose distress ink. Next I used my Mist tool along with the Altenew stamp set Painted Greetings to stamp my sentiment. After that, I used the Floral Fantasy dies and die cut my roses and leaves. For the largest rose, I used the Stamping’ Up pretty in pink and regal rose with the first layer stamped off. For the  other two roses I used blush blossom (SU) & melon berry (PTI) and apricot appeal & pumpkin pie along with kraft ink for the leaves. I really want to order some of the Altenew inks because I’ve heard such good things about them and they have fantastic colors. Once my images were stamped, I adhered them to my card front, popping up the large pink rose with foam tape and then added some Sparkling Clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Hello/Spellbinders - CTD485

Hello there, crafty friends!  It’s Wednesday and time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge. This week’s colors, peach, black and white were a bit challenging for me because peach is not usually a color I go to when creating, but that’s what the Color Throwdown is all about, trying different color combinations to get you out of the same old rut.
I made two cards using the colors for this week’s challenge, one square card and one A2 sized card.  I used the flower and leaf dies from the new Spellbinders Die D-Lites Lady Bug Garden set.  For my first card pictured above, I started out with a white card base which I embossed using a Classic Scalloped Rectangle die and then corner rounded the bottom two corners of my card.  I added a strip of My Mind's Eye Market Street designer paper along the top which is black with peach polka dots and a thinner strip of My Favorite Things striped designer paper. Next I die cut a white oval using the Classic Ovals die and Classic Scalloped Oval die from melon berry cardstock and stamped my hello sentiment from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Penned Elegance. After that I used the Lady Bug Garden flower and leaf dies and die cut them from melon berry and berry sorbet cardstock and the leaves from black cardstock. I adhered my die cut oval with scalloped mat to the front of my card using foam tape and added my flowers, popping up the berry sorbet center flower with more foam tape.  I stamped the rest of my sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Keep It Simple:Thinking of You set onto a white banner and added that underneath my die cut oval and added black rhinestones to the centers of the flowers and around the flowers.
My second card was created with the exact same supplies except I used a Standard Circle die and Standard Circle Scalloped mat for my sentiment and I heat embossed the Thinking of You with white embossing powder.

I’m a Lucky Duck - CTD484

Hello there! It seems like forever since I’ve posted. I was down with the flu along with my husband and our youngest son and it was God awful. Last year I got the flu shot and this year I kept putting it off and bam, next thing I know I was sick. And I mean REALLY sick. But, I’m back, still tired but better.
Today starts a new Color Throwdown Challenge and what better colors than to go with the GREEN since this Saturday is St. Patricks Day.
For my card, I used the adorable new Lawn Fawn Stamp set Rub-A-Dub-Dub along with the coordinating Rub-A-Dub-Dub dies to make my mom a St. Patricks Day card. I started out with a white card base, then added a panel of new leaf that I die cut using the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies. Using the same rectangle dies and a scrap piece of paper that I die cut using the Puffy Cloud Borders, I die cut a white rectangle and then using some tumbled glass distress ink, I blended on some clouds for my background. Next I die cut a piece of green Doodlebug gingham paper using the Grassy Hillside Border die and added that to the bottom. After that, I stamped my images (the four leaf clover is from the Holiday Party Animal set) and colored them with Copic markers, then die cut them out and added them to my scene, popping up the center two ducks. For my sentiment, I stamped the first portion onto a die cut banner and stamped the second portion on the green panel under my scene.
