Quilted Happy Birthday - {PTI May Blog Hop}

 Hello!  This is my second post for today so be sure to scan down for my Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge post below.
It's been a while since I participated in a Papertrey Ink Blog Hop but today I'm jumping in.  I used the new Quilted: Summer stamp set and dies for my card and as our inspiration for this month's PTI blog hop is the picture below with all of the rainbow color of blocks, I stamped several colors of ink for each quilt square to create the same effect.

Thanks for popping in!

Birdie Birthday - {SSSC270}

Hi there, folks!  Hope you're enjoying the holiday weekend.
It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge
For my card, I used the Paper Smooches stamp sets My Peeps, Sentiment Sampler and Birthday Bash to create a simple square birthday card.  Looking at the sketch you can see that I was a rebal and flipped my circle so that my bird would be looking into the center of my card.  I colored my bird using Copic markers and used the following ink colors for the candles: tropical teal, limeade ice, hawaiian shores, simply chartreuse (PTI), summer sun and daffodil delight for the flames (SU).

A Little Sunshine - {CQC#292}

 TGIF!  Are you ready for the weekend?  And a long holiday weekend here in the states to, yahoo!  Today I've got two cards that I created using this week's colors from the Colour Queen Challenge #292.  I used the new Papertrey Ink stamp set Quilted: Summer along with the coordinating dies to create some thinking of you cards.  I didn't have the exact colors from the challenge so I used what I had that was closest which was raspberry fizz, hawaiian shores (PTI) and the daffodil delight and only orange (SU).  I used the flower stamps and dies that come with this set to fill the space in the center of the quilt square, taking my inspiration from the Papertrey Ink Quilted: Spring stamp set.

That's it for me today, I'll be back on Sunday with my Sweet Sunday Sketch card!

Apple Prints - {SSSC269/CQC291}

 Hello and good morning!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
I created two cards using this week's SSSC, both for my youngest son's teachers and the last day of school.  I used the colors from this week's Colour Queen Challenge #291 and the Papertrey Ink stamp set Apple Prints with the coordinating dies.

Have a great day!

Whimsical Wishes

 Hi there!  I'm popping in today to share a card I created to go along with a little gift I gave to my sister-in-law.  The two of us were out shopping a few weeks ago when we saw a display of garden gnomes, my sister-in-law said she thought they were creepy and looked like garden trolls, lol.  So of course when I saw this sweet gnome at Meijers (see photo below) I had to get it for her.  Which of course led to me making a fun card to go along with it.
 I used the Paper Smooches stamp set Forest Whimsy and took my inspiration from the gnome I purchased for the colors.  I used Copic markers to do my coloring and some heat embossing with white embossing powder for my sentiment.  The bird was stamped and colored separately and glued on after the main image was colored.

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Bash

 Happy Friday!!!  Do you have special plans for the weekend and Mother's Day?  For us it's baseball for our youngest son and dinner with family on Sunday for Mother's Day.

Today I'm sharing a birthday card that I created for the Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge using some new Paper Smooches stamps and dies.
I used the new PS Birthday Bash stamp set and the Happy Birthday Words die.  I used a piece of watercolor paper and stamped the cluster of balloon that comes with the set twice and then stamped a single balloon in the center top.  I used a piece of scrap paper when stamping the balloons to mask off the strings and give a space for my die cut sentiment.  I then placed the scrap paper over the top of my stamped balloons and alined and stamped the strings along the bottom of my paper.  After I stamped my balloons, I colored them with Copic markers then stamped some confetti around my image.  After that I took a look at my stamped piece and thought that the die cut sentiment wasn't standing out as much as I wanted, so I added some watercoloring using peacock feathers distress ink.
PS I've added some social media buttons in the sidebar of my blog if any of you would like to connect using Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest and more.

Thanks

 Hello!  Hope you're having a good day!  Today I'm sharing a thank you card that I created for someone special.  I used the Paper Smooches stamp set Twiggy Florets and the Big Vases dies.  I'm also entering this card in the Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge for this week.
I started out with a hawaiian shores card base and used a piece of watercolor paper to do a little masking and watercoloring on my card.  The picture below shows my set up of a few of the tools I used to do the masking & watercoloring.  I took a piece of scrap paper and die cut a rectangle in the center, then used my Zig 2 way glue pen and ran a thick line of glue around the edge of the cut out rectangle and let that dry.  Once the glue is dry it becomes tacky and I was able to place my rectangle template over my piece of watercolor paper pressing it in place.  Then using my watercolor brush I added just water to the open rectangle, just enough to dampen the paper but not too wet.  Next I took my distress ink pad and applied some ink to an acrylic block and pick up that color using my paintbrush and dabbed the color onto my damped watercolor paper.  You can add as much or as little color as you like.  Once the paper was completely dry, I stamped my sentiment and images, added my leaves and popped up my flower.  I added some glossy accents to the yellow center of my flower to give it some dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!
