CQC#87 - Whooo's Birthday

Hello friends!  Today I have a card and 3D project that I've created for the Colour Queen Color Challenge.
But before I get into my post I'd just like to say something...month's ago I created an owl using the Stampin' Up Pillow Box Sizzix die (you can see my post here), it was original I thought because I had never seen anyone create an owl using the Pillow Box die and I subscribe and follow a large amount of blogs and I'm constantly surfing the web.  Well since then I've seen several people post on their blogs the same owl using the Pillow Box die without so much as a mention of my name, link to my blog or to even drop me an email to asking if I'd mind them using my idea.  Don't get me wrong I do understand that if you put something out on the web some people feel it's up for grabs.  I also know that copying is the best form of flattery and that we all find inspiration in each others work...but it does upset me when someone claims to have created it themselves without giving credit.  I'm a big believer in giving credit where credit is due and I've always tried to stick to that rule here on my blog.  If I've ever gotten inspiration from someone I link to that person, it's common courtesy.  It's also easy to improve on something that someone else has originally created.

The Owl Happy Birthday card uses the SU stamp set Curly Cute, the Two-Step Owl punch and the Scallop Border punch as well as some Melon Mambo designer paper.
For the Owl Pillow Box you can see the supplies below that I used in order to create him, starting with the Pillow Box die I cut out using the Soft Sued and then I cut one half of the die out with the Melon Mambo designer paper.  I used the various sized circle punches for the eyes, heart punch for the two feet and beak, large oval for the wings and punched a little more than half of the scallop circle punch out of the yellow and layered them for the belly.  The one thing you must have when putting one of these together is excellent adhesive, I used my Scor-tape to adhere the box, designer paper, scallop belly layers and wings.
Thank you for your visit and have a nice day!

SSSC119 - Patsy Pixie

Happy Memorial Weekend!  It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC119).  For my card I used the Stamping Bella stamp Patsy Pixie.  I saw this cute stamp at Archivers the other day and couldn't resist, it's been forever since I've stamped with any of my Bella images and this one was so fun to color.  As you can see I flipped Karen's sketch and since I put my sentiment in with my image I decided to go a cluster of buttons instead of a large circle.  After coloring with Copics I added some Spica clear glitter to some of the flowers to add a bit of sparkle to the image.

Supplies: Patsy Pixie - Stamping Bella, Mega Mixed Messages (Hello) - PTI, Lime Twist - My Mind's Eye DP, Copics, Spica Glitter pen, Ribbon, Twine, Scallop border die - TE.  Colors: Rich Razzleberry.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop/SSC12 - You Make Me Smile

Happy Wednesday!  We've made it half way through the week!
The card I have for today is for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and for the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #12.  The challenge for this month's PTI Blog Hop was to create a card or project using flowers.  I wanted to create a card that would be bright and cheerful as well as have a flower on it so I used some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely designer paper, pulled out my PTI Signature Greetings stamp set and Beautiful Blooms flower die and had some fun.  Iwona's Sketchbook Saturday sketch actually has the circle for the sentiment to the right side of the card but as I was putting my card together I felt it looked better to the left.  It may be difficult to see from the photo but for the flower I actually die cut four of the same flowers, folded them in half and layered them together, then added smaller die cut flower and button with thread.

I'm so glad you stopped by!

CR84FN/Make-it Monday #16 - Sympathy

Hello friends!  Hope you're doing well.  Today I have two cards that I created for the CR84FN Color Challenge and for the Papertrey Ink Make-it Monday Challenge #16 which was to create a sympathy card.  I used the PTI stamp set Sending You for both cards which is an awesome set, I love all of the sentiments included along with all of the flower and leaf images.

For my first card I used the coordinating die for the Sending You set and stamped the outline and sentiment in Perfect Plum and the leaves in Crumb Cake.  Then I used two of my PTI flower dies and cut one in Perfect Plum and the smaller in Pale Plum which I then stamped and added a rhinestone to.  The flowers were then added to my white die cut piece with foam tape.  The bottom portion of my card was embossed with dots and the upper portion was SU designer paper that I randomly stamped with some of the flower/leaf images.
For my second card I used all of the same supplies except instead of die cut flowers I used my SU Sizzix butterfly die and cut two butterflies in the two colors and added a punched flower and pearl to the center.

I'm hoping to have a little more stamping time once the end of the school year is over.  Our youngest finished his last day of preschool last Thursday (I'll miss those precious few hours every Tue. & Thursday morning) and my daughter just finished her last dance competition for the year this last weekend.  Now all that's left are award ceremonies, end of the school year parties, a dance recital, and my daughter's birthday party with her friends and another with family.

Barb's Birthday Blog Hop!

Welcome!  Whether your stopping by for a visit or joining in on our Happy Birthday Barb Blog Hop I'm glad you're here!
Today the talented Barbara Anders is celebrating her birthday and a few blogging friends have decided to honor her birthday by having a birthday blog hop.  I know Barb through blogging of course and her amazing work but also because she is one of my team mates on the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Design Team.  So I thought it fitting to create her card using the TE stamp set For the Love of Cupcakes along with the supplies from May's Key Ingredients Kit and this weeks Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge #333

We hope Barb will be very surprised, and feel the love from everyone for this special occasion!  Happy Birthday Barb!
If you're following the hop you would have come from Jessica's blog and your next stop will be Jackie's.

Thank you for your visit!

SSSC117 - For the Love of Cupcakes

It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!  For my card this week I used the Taylored Expressions stamp set For the Love of Cupcakes and May's Key Ingredients Kit to create a birthday card.  The American Crafts Happy Go Lucky designer papers that come in this month's kit are so fun and cheerful with all of the polka dots, florals and cute prints and the coordinating accessories from the kit make it easy to create a card or project.

SSSC116 - Birthday Buttons

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!  I'm going to keep this post short and sweet (it's Saturday night right now) since I've been gardening all day, pulling weeds, planting and adding mulch and every muscle in my body is crying out for some Motrin.  It was nice spending some time in the garden today even though I'm tired, it's a good tired.
It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #116.  I decided to flip Karen's sketch and use the Papertrey Ink stamp set Button Boutique along with the coordinating dies and Doily Details die.  The card base is Night of Navy with a panel of Not Quite Navy along with some My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose designer paper.

SSSC115 - Flower Fusion

It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!  I took Karen's sketch, flipped it and created two clean and simple cards using the Papertrey Ink stamp set Flower Fusion.  Both cards are 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and use My Mind's Eye designer paper, the Flower Fusion Flower die, button, twine, pearls, orange zest twill, medium scallop border and some sewing.  The colors I used were Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie and Certainly Celery.
