The Shabby Tea Room - Enjoy Your Special Day

Hello there friends!  I've got some fun news, I'm the guest designer this week over at The Shabby Tea Room
The challenge for this week, #125 is "Sweet Summertime" create a card or project inspired by the COLORS in the photo below AND INCLUDE FLOWERS PLUS A STAMPED ELEMENT!

For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Happy Hydrangea and the new The Sweet Life roses set.  I tried to incorporate the three elements from the inspiration photo onto my card, I stamped the roses onto my background and used a woodgrain impressions plate to add texture.  Then I added the newsprint die cut hexagons along the left side of my card and finally I highlighted a single hydrangea bloom by popping it up and layering it onto several mats.
Supplies: Happy Hydrangea + dies, The Sweet Life, Hexagon die, Mat Stack die, Houndstooth, Oval Nesties, Woodgrain Impressions plate, October Afternoon dp, Copics, Silk flower, Buttons, Foam tape.  Colors: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Lovely Lilac, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette.

Be sure to visit The Shabby Tea Room blog to see what the talented women on the design team came up with for this week's challenge and I hope you'll play along.

SSSC164 - I Have You in My Heart

Hello and welcome!  It's time for another fun Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!  Today I have a card that I created for a special friend of mine who's going through a difficult time.

I used several different stamps on this card to give it a bit of an artsy kind of look.  Most of the stamps are from Hero Arts including the Solid Heart Background stamp, Bird with branch and the All Occasions Messages.  I'm in love with this new "Fabulous" My Mind's Eye designer paper pack that I used as well, it has such pretty patterns and designs you can cut up for card making or scrapbooking.
After creating my card I didn't have an envelope large enough to fit so I used a flat paper bag I had and decorated it to coordinate with the card.  I used a strip of designer paper, another Hero Arts sentiment and Papertrey Ink dies to complete the envelope.

For the inside top of the card I used a PTI flower die with a Verve sentiment in the center and on the bottom portion of the card I stamped a sentiment from the Taylored Expressions stamp set Friendship Blooms (you can click on any of the pictures for a closer view).

Supplies: Solid Heart Background, Bird with Branch, All Occasions Messages and flower gems - Hero Arts, Friendship Blooms & Flower die - Taylor Expressions, Circular Sayings - Verve, Circle punch, Spiral punch, Butterfly Sizzlet - SU, Flower die, Heart Border die, Doily Details die, Banner die, Button - PTI, Bakers Twine, Leaf pins, Paper bag, Copic markers, Foam tape.  Colors: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pink Passion.

The Shabby Tea Room/SSC69 - With Deepest Sympathy

Hello there and Happy Friday!  Today I have another sympathy card to share with you.  You might be thinking what's with all the sympathy cards lately, well they're for a card order.  They're not always the easiest cards to make when you really need one and thank goodness I don't right now.
To put my card together I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets The Sweet Life for the rose and Happy Hydrangea for my sentiment along with the Shabby Tea Room Challenge for this week which is Oh-So Pretty in Pink (see photo below) and the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #69.

Supplies: The Sweet Life, Happy Hydrangea, Doily Details die, Filigree border die, MME dp, Ribbon, Buttons, Glitter, Foam tape.

I'm super excited that next week I'll be the guest designer over at the Shabby Tea Room!  I hope you'll stop by and play along with the challenge for next week.

CTD202 - Sending Prayers

Hi there, long time no see right?  It's been a week since I've posted here on my blog, I've been so busy making cards but I haven't taken the time to post them.  It's Wednesday and time for another Color Throwdown Challenge.  This week our hostess is Tammy who has a gorgeous color pallet and inspiration photo.
For my card I not only used the colors for this week's CTD challenge but the fun sketch #21 from Retro Sketches.  I kept my card clean and simple and used mostly die cuts and very little stamping.  The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Beautiful Butterflies along with the coordinating butterfly die cuts.

Supplies: Beautiful Butterflies + dies, MME dp, Tag die, Houndstooth, Fillable Frames #5 die, Doily Details die, Button, Ribbon, Foam tape.

Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

Hi there!  It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge
Before I begin, if you haven't been over to the Color Throwdown blog to see, I wanted to announce the winner of the blog candy I had up for grabs from last week's 200th Color Throwdown Challenge Celebration.
The winner is...Cassie from A Day in the Life of a Homeschooling Mom.  Congratulations Cassie!

Wanda is our hostess for this week's challenge and she's chosen some wonderful colors and a great inspiration photo for all of us to create with.

For my card I created a sympathy card using not only the color for this week's challenge but the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #250.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Think Big Favorites #3 along with the My Favorite Things Rolled Roses die.

SSSC163 - Green Thumb

Hello and good morning friends!  It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #163.  Karen has a fun new sketch and has announced our new Sweet Sunday Sketch team members (you can see their names listed below) so please be sure to give them all a nice warm welcome.  We have a great group of talented ladies on the team and I'm looking forward to working with them.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Green Thumb to create a potted flower arrangement.  I found the best way to do this with this stamp set was to stamp the pot first then stamp my flowers and add the stems and leaves after.  This was my third attempt at stamping this image because I kept smudging ink onto each finished piece after I stamped it (gotta love those inky fingers).
Supplies: Green Thumb, Little Bitty Bird + die, Picket Fence die - PTI, Circle punches, Button, Five Petal Flower punch - SU, Scallop border punch, My Mind's Eye dp.  Colors: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Marina Mist, So Saffron.

To play along create a card using Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, then go to Karen’s blog The Sweetest Thing and link your card so we can all see your creation!

CTD200 - Look Hoo's Celebrating!

Hello everyone!!!  I'm excited to be this week's hostess over at the Color Throwdown Challenge because we're celebrating our 200th Challenge!  In honor of our 200th Challenge we have a little fun planned for this week.  Each team member of the CTD is offering blog candy and they'll be one lucky winner per blog.  All you have to do is leave a comment on each of our blogs and play along with this week's Color Throwdown Challenge to be eligible to win.  The featured Stamper and winners will be announced next week Tuesday (you must participate in the CTD Challenge in order to have a chance to win).
While looking for an inspiration photo for our celebration challenge I stumbled across this fun picture with all of it's cute cupcakes, owl, buttons and ric-rack and knew I found what I was looking for.  I decided to create a coordinating birthday card and one of my Pillow Box Owl treat boxes that I had designed last year, you can see variations of this owl treat box here and here

Below you'll see a photo of the supplies I used to create this new version of my Pillow Box Owl which is inspired by the cake topper in the inspiration photo above.  I used everything that is pictured here along with the Sizzix Pillow Box die, some Scor-Tape and some good glue.  For the feathers on the tummy of the owl I die cut several of the Papertrey Ink Heart borders in three colors, creamy carmel, close to cocoa and chocolate chip and layered them together with glue then using a circle Nestabilities die I die cut all but the bottom.

Supplies for Pillow Box Owl Treat Box: SU Sizzix Pillow Box die, Large oval punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, 5 Petal Flower punch (for beak), Small Heart punch, 2 1/8" Circle Nestie, PTI Heart border die, My Favorite Things Flower die, Sco-Tape, Glue.
Supplies for Owl Card: SU Owl punch, SU small flower punch,  PTI Button Bits & Tremendous Treats Birthday (for sentiment), Buttons, My Mind's Eye dp, Nesties.

On to the Candy!  I know it isn't spring but I just loved the sweet patterns in this Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad, it's filled with butterflies, flowers and birds.  And to coordinate with the paper I'm also giving away a pack of matching stick pins, rhinestones, ribbon, bakers twine and the Stampendous stamp set Butterfly Beauties.  Play along with the CTD this week and leave a comment here for a chance to win.

Best of luck to you!

CTD199 - Ahoy!

Well hello there and a belated Happy Fourth of July!  I'm late with posting my card for the this week's Color Throwdown Challenge because we lost our power during some storms that we had on Tuesday.  I hope all of you enjoyed the holiday!  Lori is our hostess for this week's challenge and she's chosen some perfect colors for the Fourth of July holiday.

For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Tremendous Treats Birthday and Mat Stack 3 with coordinating die.  After seeing Lori's inspiration photo and colors I went with the PTI banner dies and pirate image from the Tremendous Treats set hoping to give my card a fun nautical look.  I started out with a crumb cake card base, added an embossed night of navy panel and stamped my Mat Stack three die cut in night of navy.  Then I added a strip of tempting turquoise, some bakers twine and my banners along the bottom.  I die cut a white circle and navy mat, stamped my image and colored it with Copic markers then popped it up with foam tape.  To finish off my card I stamped my happy birthday sentiment in real red on a die cut banner and added buttons.
Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!
