Hello and welcome! I hope you're having a good day! It's Wednesday and time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge. It's my week to host the challenge over at the Color Throwdown and I've chosen a feminine color palette with pinks and metallic gold. The inspiration picture I chose caught my eye because the heart shaped cookies (see photo below) where actually watercolored with flecks of edible gold. Watercoloring is so on trend right now and with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought it this combo would be fun. I hope you like it!
I was having so much fun watercoloring that I created two cards for this week's CTD challenge. I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Bold Blossoms (I'm a sucker for a pretty floral set) with coordinating dies along with the Scripted and Noted stamp set with coordinating dies.
I started out by die cutting a bunch of the flowers from the Bold Blossoms set from watercolor paper and watercolored them with Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Worn Lipstick distress inks (I have a bunch leftover so I can make more cards). While my flowers were drying, I die cut my Hello There and Hello (three of these & glued them together) from gold metallic paper and set them aside. For my first card, I used watercolor paper and sponged on some picked raspberry and worn lipstick distress ink, then sprinkled it with water, waited a few minutes and blotted it with paper towel. Then I added some flecks of gold with some watered down metallic gold paint, stamped my birthday girl sentiment and added my watercolored flowers and sequins.
For my second card, I used some watercolor paper and the same three distress inks and added three rows of color. Once that was dry I added some flecks of seedless preserves distress ink and gold metallic paint. After that dried, stamped my sentiment, adhered my watercolored flower with leaves and glued down my metallic gold Hello and a few gold sequins. I adhered this panel to a mat of some pretty in pink card stock and added foam adhesive to the back then taped it to my white card front. It's difficult to see from the photos but in the dark purple centers of all the flowers, I used some Wink of Stella glitter pen, so between the flecks of gold metallic paint, sequins and glitter, these cards really sparkle.

Hello there! Today I've got another card for the Papertrey Ink 9 Year Anniversary Celebration. Today's challenge on the PTI site was to create a new project with supplies you grab and gather together in 5 minutes.
Well this wasn't a hard challenge for me since I still hadn't cleaned up from the card I created yesterday which you can see here. In fact I had already die cut a bunch of these Bold Blossoms flowers out and had the bird from the Winter Woods set die cut and stamped already and used the same sentiment stamp set so the only other supplies I had to grab was ink, white cardstock, Copic markers, a handful of silver sequins and the Meadow Greens stamp & dies set.
The inspiration for my card is the photo above which is from Park Cities Petals who I follow on Instagram. Their arrangements and florals are amazing! So when I saw this big bouquet of deep red poppies I knew I wanted to use them as inspiration for a card. I used to grow poppies at our old house when I had really good soil, they were beautiful in oriental reds, yellows and pinks and were the size of teacups.
For my card, I started out by stamping my sentiment from the Graceful Greetings stamp set in black ink, then inked up the ferns from the Meadow Greens set in Ocean Tides ink and stamped off, stamping the ferns twice on the front of my card. Next I die cut three sets of leaves from the same set, Meadow Greens and stamped those full Ocean Tides ink. After that, I stamped my flowers in Ruby Red ink (SU) and added shading using Copic markers, then stamped the centers in black, popping up the largest flower and it's center with foam adhesive. All that was left was to arrange and adhere my pieces and then I added black glitter to the flower centers and three silver sequins.

Hello, friends! Happy Saturday! Today I've got a card that I created for the Papertrey Ink 9 Year Anniversary Celebration. Each day during the celebration (from Feb. 5-15) Papertrey Ink host a challenge, the first challenge which started yesterday was to create a new project that uses one of the Color Recipe Cards shown on the PTI site. I chose Betsy Veldman's Color Recipe card with it's beautiful vibrant colors, my favorites.
The card that I created is a one panel birthday card using the PTI stamp sets, Bold Blossoms, Graceful Greetings, Winter Woods, Turning a New Leaf and Beautiful Butterflies. I had so many ideas in my head for creating cards when I first saw the Bold Blossoms set that Dawn McVey designed, the card I'm sharing today is one of them.
I started off my card by first stamping my sentiment in black ink, then I die cut and stamped four of the flowers and some leaves from the Bold Blossoms set adding shading with Copic markers to the flowers. I also die cut and stamped several of the centers of the flowers and then die cut and stamped my bird (you know everything is better with a bird on it, lol). After arranging my die cut flowers, leaves and bird around my sentiment, I then knew where I wanted to stamp my orange flowers and Turning a New Leaf stems. I did add a touch of tropical teal to my card which isn't on the card recipe but felt was needed in my design. I stamped a little butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies set at the top of my card and once all my stamping was done I adhered everything in place. As a finishing touch, I added three iridescent sequins.
