Skatin' By - {C4C283}

 Happy Saturday!  Today is the last Saturday of the month and the last day I'll be hosting over at the Crazy-4-Challenges site.  I'd like to give a big thank you to my fellow Sweet Sunday Sketch team mate, Vicki Burdick for being our Crazy-4-Challenges guest designer this month and for sharing her beautiful projects with us.

Here is the challenge for this week:
Since today is World Penguin Day and tomorrow is National Go Birding Day, lets create a card or project using some type of bird.
 For my card, I used the Mama Elephant stamp sets Arctic Penguins, Jolly and Merry and Happy Everything to create a birthday card.  I also used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Noted for my gray chevron along the bottom. I used The Card Concept Challenge #33 as inspiration and pulled the colors and chevron from the photo above.

Hello - {C4C276/MOJO387}

Hi there!  Our host this month over at the Crazy-4-Challenges site is Anja and her theme for this week is "Put a Bow on it".
Welcome to our guest designer for this month, Andrea Murdock.
For my card I used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #387 for my layout and the Mama Elephant stamp set Pandamonium to create a simple thinking of you card.

i Love you - {SSSC255}

 Good morning!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
I've been in such a Valentine mood, as soon as Christmas was over I couldn't wait to start creating Valentine projects.  I don't usually make that many Valentines each year but they are defiantly fun to create, today's projects were created for my daughter.  Looking at the sketch below, you're probably thinking I've forgotten the speech bubble but Karen has said that it was optional so I didn't work it into my card.
I used the fun Mama Elephant stamp set In My Heart that I won from the Mama Elephant contest a few months ago.  I think this set is adorable!  I used the In My Heart set to create a Valentine card and  gift box.  For the card, I stamped the little girl onto white cardstock then stamped her again onto scrap paper to create a mask so that I could blend color over top of her.  I created another mask by using a rectangle die and some scrap paper which I laid over the stamped/masked girl so that the rectangle came just to her feet.  Then within the rectangle, I sponged on poppy ink and stamped red hearts above her head.  For the hill of grass she's standing on, I used another mask of scrap paper and sponged on some chartreuse and added some blades of grass with Copic marker.  The little girl was also colored with Copic markers and I used a white gel pen to add polka dots to her dress.
The small gift box is an old stand-by that I go to if I need something small and easy to put together, I'm sure some of you remember the 2-4-6-8 box.  I cut mine down so the height of my box is only 4 1/2".  I pinched the top together and used a hand held hole punch to create notches on the sides so I could tie on my bakers twine.

Valentine's Day Tag - {TYIC#14}

Hello!  The Tag You're It design team is back in action this month and I'm glad to still be a part of the team.  Our guest designer for challenge #14 is the talented Debby Hughes.  I'm an admirer of Debby's work, her projects always have such a clean and gorgeous look.
For my tag, I used the Mama Elephant stamp set Pandamonium along with the Mama Elephant creative cuts for the tag and die cut hearts at the bottom of my tag.  After die cutting two tags, one black with white polka dots and one from white cardstock, I then die cut the hearts along the white tag and then embossed the top half using an embossing folder.  Then I masked off the top half of my tag with a post-it note and sponged on some picked raspberry distress ink over my hearts.  Once that was done, I used a piece of double sided tape above my sponged area and added some silver glitter.  For my sentiment, I used white embossing powder to heat emboss on a small black banner and added that just above the hearts.  The last things I added where my stamped and die cut panda, the heart he's holding and a few rhinestones.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday - {SSSC252}

Hi there friends!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
For my card I used the Mama Elephant stamp sets Pandamonium and Happy Everything along with the coordinating dies to create a birthday card.  A few details: I die cut the "happy" three times and layered them together to make it pop, I added some glossy accents to the balloon after I colored it with Copic markers and I added a few iridescent sequins for a little sparkle.

Happy Valentine's Day

 Hello!  This is my second post for today (I know twice in one day?!).  I've got one more card for the Mama Elephant Challenge that ends tonight, so while I had all my supplies out I decided to make another card.
Like my earlier post, this card uses the Mama Elephant stamp set Pandamonium along with the Happy word die that coordinates with the Happy Everything set.  This is a shaker card except that the shaker window is flat and created using a sandwich of white card stock and vellum with little red hearts as my shaker pieces.
I started out with a white card base, added a die cut panel of red scallop, then used an embossing folder to emboss a white panel on top of that.  I liked the backside of the embossing on the white card stock, where the dots where indented so I used it that way.  Then I added my die cut heart shaker, my stamped and colored popped up panda with his little Valentine and underneath that, my black die cut happy.  I used an older Stampin Up set that I had for the Valentine's Day sentiment flag.  I really have very little Valentine's Day stamps, I might need to fix that :)

Kiss kiss, i love u

Hi there folks!  I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas.  Sorry I've been missing in action here on my blog but right before Christmas I came down with the flu.  Yes, yuck!  Not fun being sick all through the holiday.  I'm still coughing and blowing but I wanted to take a few minutes to post two cards that I created for the Mama Elephant Challenge for this month which is to create a Valentine card.  Yep I know what you're thinking, Valentine's already? but as a card maker it's never too early to start crafting ahead for the next holiday.
 The first card that I created is a shaker card using the adorable Mama Elephant stamp set Pandamonium.  I started out with a white card base and then added a red die cut and embossed scalloped panel using the Mama Elephant Creative Cuts basic set and a polka dot embossing folder.  For the scallop heart cutout to create my shaker, I used the Papertrey Ink shakers & sprinkles heart die.  I added a little Copic marker shading and pink cheeks to my kissing pandas before I filled my shaker with silver and red sequins and red and pink hearts.  This card was so fun to make that I can see myself making more of these.
 My second Valentine card, I used the same Pandamonium stamp set along with another Mama Elephant set Party Kit.  The little panda was stamped, colored and die cut, then popped up on a white die cut panel that I had stamped the three heart balloons and streamers.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink onto a pink banner and added on top of the die cut green hill and for some added detail I glued on a few clear iridescent sequins.

That's it for me today.  Thank you for your visit!

Merry - {SSSC249}

Hi there friends!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
 For my card I used the Mama Elephant stamp sets Arctic Penguins and Jolly and Merry.  A few details: I embossed the red panel using a polka dot embossing folder.  I added some glitter to the Santa hat on the last penguin and silver glitter pen to their skates and some glossy accents to their eyes and beaks.  Two of the little packages have some white gel pen detail to them and all of the penguins were colored with Copic markers.

Jolly - {SSSC248}

 Hi there and good morning!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
For my card I used the Mama Elephant stamp sets Arctic Penguins and Jolly and Merry (I made a batch of cards using these sets, I love these cute penguins).  A few details: After stamping the Jolly once in brocade blue, I stamped off and stamped it again just slightly off to give a shadowed look.  I used a silver glitter pen on the penguins hats and skates and within the letters of Holidays sentiment and I added some white pen to the little snowflakes to give them some pop.
