This was the swap that I made for the Great Swap Girls new catalog swap, I tried to come up with something different because I've seen so many excellent cards done with this Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set. So I decided to spotlight or highlight the cupcakes using the new 1 3/4" circle punch so that your eye is drawn directly to the pink fluffy frosted cupcakes. There are seven layers on this card not including the white circle, you'd think with seven layers I'd be working on a cake card, lol. I used my aqua brush to color the cupcakes and then went back in using my SU markers to add more color, then applied crystal effects to the cherries. This picture is not the greatest but its been cloudy with rain off and on today, so this is the best I could get.
I'm running low on energy over this past week due to the fact that our 22 month old son Connor has decided he's just not going to sleep - ever! Maybe he's fighting something off I'm not sure, but for the past week or more he has been awful about going to bed, then wakes up at least once during the night some times more. He woke up mid morning around 3:00am today and DH brought him into bed with us so he could kick and flop around and try and crawl off the bed. Then at 5:50am I heard a noise in the kitchen, woke my husband in a panic and started running down the hall because I thought it was Connor who had gotten out of bed and the basement door wasn't closed, when really it was our oldest son Zach getting breakfast. All to find out that Connor had finally fallen asleep in our bed and nether of us noticed. So needless to say I'm functioning on high doses of coffee and Dove dark chocolates.
Sorry for the rambling.

Very yummy, love the colors and layout Lynn!
Oh my, I hope Connor starts sleeping better for you!! Fabulous card...every time I see you make a card with this set I think I really need it...and then I'm ok until I see it again!! Great job!! Hugs, Kelly
Cute card! I like the spotlight circle, it does draw your eye to the yummy cupcakes.
Hope that Connor decides to let mommy sleep soon! No fun living on zero sleep!
Super cute card! I love how you spotlighted the cupcakes. Very clever!
And I hear ya with the no sleeping. Both my boys did the no sleeping thing at times. They still do occasionally. Eventually they just pass out somewhere. :)
Hope you all get a good nights sleep!
Yummy! Love the colors!
Lynn what a clever idea! Spotlighting the cupcakes is brilliant! So cute! I love your card! 7 layers...you go girl! I thought of salad as soon as I heard that....my family loves 7 layer salad! Wow..that was way off topic! hee hee! No sleep! Ick! I feel that way too! My hubby always feels the need to carry on 1 hour conversations when we go to bed on nights when I have school the next day! Going to bed after midnight and waking up at 5 is not fun for me! Can you tell I am not a mom yet? hee hee! Hope you get some well deserved sleep tonight!
Hugs~ Kim
love it =)
Wow, Lynn, hope you're able to get some rest.
Love the cupcakes and your yummy layout.
Love the spotlighting. Hope you get some rest - although an excuse for lots of coffee and Dove chocolates sounds kinda good (every once in a while :) )
I love the way this card pulls your eye into the cupcakes without being obvious. It just all flows so nicely. I know what you mean about not sleeping through the night. My middle son, who is 2 1/2comes into our bedroom nearly every night (teddy bear in hand) and wants to climb in. Sometimes he's so sneaky & quiet, we don't even wake up until he's turned sideways and kicking one of us. It must be the age.
Fantastic card Lynn! Wish I had time to get in on that swap...your card is wonderful!
Sorry to hear you are exhausted and your son isn't sleeping well. Hope that he gets back into a routine for you very soon!!
I love your cupcake card... my 22 month old has also taken to sleeping poorly as well. His new thing is to throw his blanket out of the crib, and then an hour later howl that he needs to be covered back up with that very same blanket... He did that 4 times the other night! I don't think I have ever drank this much caffeine even when my other two were small.
Great use of the spotlight technique!
Cindy
