CTD200 - Look Hoo's Celebrating!

Hello everyone!!!  I'm excited to be this week's hostess over at the Color Throwdown Challenge because we're celebrating our 200th Challenge!  In honor of our 200th Challenge we have a little fun planned for this week.  Each team member of the CTD is offering blog candy and they'll be one lucky winner per blog.  All you have to do is leave a comment on each of our blogs and play along with this week's Color Throwdown Challenge to be eligible to win.  The featured Stamper and winners will be announced next week Tuesday (you must participate in the CTD Challenge in order to have a chance to win).
While looking for an inspiration photo for our celebration challenge I stumbled across this fun picture with all of it's cute cupcakes, owl, buttons and ric-rack and knew I found what I was looking for.  I decided to create a coordinating birthday card and one of my Pillow Box Owl treat boxes that I had designed last year, you can see variations of this owl treat box here and here

Below you'll see a photo of the supplies I used to create this new version of my Pillow Box Owl which is inspired by the cake topper in the inspiration photo above.  I used everything that is pictured here along with the Sizzix Pillow Box die, some Scor-Tape and some good glue.  For the feathers on the tummy of the owl I die cut several of the Papertrey Ink Heart borders in three colors, creamy carmel, close to cocoa and chocolate chip and layered them together with glue then using a circle Nestabilities die I die cut all but the bottom.

Supplies for Pillow Box Owl Treat Box: SU Sizzix Pillow Box die, Large oval punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, 5 Petal Flower punch (for beak), Small Heart punch, 2 1/8" Circle Nestie, PTI Heart border die, My Favorite Things Flower die, Sco-Tape, Glue.
Supplies for Owl Card: SU Owl punch, SU small flower punch,  PTI Button Bits & Tremendous Treats Birthday (for sentiment), Buttons, My Mind's Eye dp, Nesties.

On to the Candy!  I know it isn't spring but I just loved the sweet patterns in this Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad, it's filled with butterflies, flowers and birds.  And to coordinate with the paper I'm also giving away a pack of matching stick pins, rhinestones, ribbon, bakers twine and the Stampendous stamp set Butterfly Beauties.  Play along with the CTD this week and leave a comment here for a chance to win.

Best of luck to you!

Lovely as a Tree

Hi there!  Are you gearing up for Father's Day this Sunday?  I know we are, every year we have a combination Father's Day/birthday party for my daughter who was born on Father's Day and it's always lot of fun.  Today I'm sharing two clean and simple masculine birthday cards that I've created.  I used the same supplies for both cards but switched up the layouts and tree images from the Stampin' Up stamp set Lovely as a Tree.  The designer paper is My Mind's Eye, both card bases are chocolate chip with some natural and crumb cake cardstock.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Mega Mixed Messages and the background stamp is also a PTI set, Houndstooth.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I'll be back on Sunday with my card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

CTD196 - Basket Full of Fun

It's time for the Color Throwdown, our hostess for this week's challenge is Danielle who has chosen some lovely colors along with a fun inspiration photo for us to create with.

I used this week's color challenge to create two cards for a card order I'm finishing up and if you can believe it I actually used a retired Stampin' Up stamp set.  I hung on to the SU Basket Full of Fun stamp set because I knew it was a set I'd use again.  The person I created these cards for is a knitter and is in a knitting class and wanted a few cards made up using this set.  For the image I stamped the basket, then masked off the basket and stamped the balls of yarn.  I used my aqua brush and ink pads to add in some color, then went back in with my Copic markers to add some shading.

Supplies: Basket Full of Fun - SU, Polka Dot embossing folder, Ribbon, Button, Aqua brush, Copics, TE Scallop border die, Foam tape.

Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown challenge!

Teacher Gifts

Hello!  Today is the last day of school for my three kids and as a thank you to my youngest son's teacher and teacher's aid I put together some goodie baskets.  Both baskets are a combination of Bath & Body Works products with some Target dollar spot items.  The plastic strawberry containers were also purchased at Target.

The first basket has a strawberry theme with hand soap, candle, pens, post-its and gum (this basket smells so good).  For the tag I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Strawberry Patch with coordinating dies.  I die cut two of the PTI tags, one for my son to sign and one to decorate.  Along the bottom of the tag I added a strip of red and white checked designer paper and a row of heart border.

The second basket for the teacher's aid has a lemon theme and was filled with hand soap, candle, post-its and to do list.
For the tag I used the Stampin' Up stamp set Tart & Tangy to stamp the lemons and the PTI stamp set Fillable Frames #5 for the thank you sentiment.
These were easy and fun to put together and I hope the teachers like them.

Summer has officially begun!
