A Magical Day

Hi there and Happy Saturday!  I'm popping in today to share a trio of cards that I made using the Avery Elle stamp set, Be a Unicorn. The first thing I did was to stamp my images and color them using Copic markers.  Next I die cut my images using the Be a Unicorn dies and set them aside while I worked on my cards.  I cut three white square card bases from white cardstock, three square frames using the Single Stitched Line Square Frames die and six sections of clouds using the Puffy Cloud Borders dies.  After that, I die cut a square from a piece of computer paper to make a mask and added temporary adhesive to the back of it and placed it over the front of each card so that I could stencil in some clouds for my background.  A while ago I was in need of a cloud stencil and I improvised by making my own using the cloud dies I have and die cutting them from pieces of scrap watercolor paper.  So that's what I used on each card front (see photo below).  I used shaded lilac, spun sugar and tumbled glass distress inks and just moving the die cut cloud pieces around and flipping them over and blending on some distress ink and there you have it, clouds.  Once my background was finished on each card, I used my Misti tool and stamped my sentiment then I glued on my die cut frames and adhered the die cut clouds, popping up the top layer, and then added my stamped images.  To finish off my cards, I added some Wink of Stella glitter pen to the unicorns and some icicle Stickles to the stars. These cards were so fun to create!  So girlie!  And of course I always dress up my envelopes with some stamping and washi tape.  I made goodie bags up for my daughter, her roommate and my niece, who all go to the same college, and put these cards inside them.

Hello there!  Happy Friday!  Today I'm sharing a fun card I created using the Avery Elle stamp set Be a Unicorn along with the coordinating Be a Unicorn dies. I needed a birthday card to mail to my niece and before I had an idea of what I wanted to make I purchased a Target gift card and inspiration hit.  The gift card was so pretty with it's sun burst and unicorn and when you tilted the card it had a metallic shimmer that I thought I'd try and re-create something close with the card I would make.  I started out with a white card base then used a panel of white cardstock which I corner rounded and blended on some mustard seed distress ink in the upper left corner.  Next I die cut a sun from the Papertrey Ink set Heart to Heart #6 and made a mask laying it over where I had blended on the yellow.  Once my sun mask was in place, I really started having fun with blending on my distress inks.  I used spiced marmalade, picked raspberry and wilted violet distress inks to blend in my background.  Once my ink blending was done, I removed my sun mask and stamped just the outline of the sun image from the Heart to Heart #6 set and then blended over the whole top of my card with more mustard seed distress ink and then stamped some sun rays in pumpkin pie ink using the PTI stamp set, Hello Sunshine.  Next I stamped all of my images and colored them using Copic markers then die cut them out along with two sets of clouds using the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Borders.  I stamped my sentiment and some stars onto the die clouds then blended on some spun sugar distress ink along the edges and adhered them to my card front, popping up the top layer of clouds with foam tape.  I added my unicorn, hearts and star, popping up the unicorn with more foam tape and then I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen on the sun, the unicorn and the edges of the clouds, some icicle Stickles on the stars and some Glossy Accents on the hearts and horn of the unicorn.

Skating by to Say.. - (CTD455)

Hello there!  It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge and we have some fun pastel party colors to create with.  For this week's challenge, I made two cards using the sweet Avery Elle stamp set Skating By and the coordinating Skating By dies.

Both cards have the same layouts and supplies, I just switched up the Copic marker coloring on each one.  I started out with a white card base, then added a pretty in pink cardstock panel that I die cut using the Lawn Fawn Outside-In Stitched Rectangle Stackables die.  Next I die cut two rectangle watercolor paper pieces using the same die as my pink panel and watercolored in aqua blue and pink on both.  Once my watercolor pieces were dry, I lined them up in my Misti tool and stamped my sentiment.  After that I stamped two of the skater girl images and the balloons onto white cardstock and colored them using Copic markers then die cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I adhered my rectangle watercolored panels with foam tape and also adhered my images with foam tape other than the third balloon on my first card.  I added three iridescent sequins on each card and used my Wink of Stella glitter pen to added glitter to the bow, dress, socks and skates on both images.  These cards were so fun to make, I love how girly they are with the pinks, purple and aqua colors from this week's CTD challenge. Hi there, crafty friends!  Today I've got a card that I'm sharing using the fun Avery Elle stamp set, Skating By.  I'm entering my card today into two challenges, the first is the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and the second is for the A Blog Named Hero Challenge.  Both challenges are all about creating with Rainbow colors. I stamped my image onto a die cut stitched panel using black Palette ink and I used Copic markers to color.  Below is a quick slideshow of how I stamped my card.

Peonies

Hello, friends!  I've been busy spending time with my daughter who is home on spring break since last week so I haven't had much time to create.  But today I had a few minutes in-between laundry to play, so I created a matching set of cards using the Avery Elle stamp set Peonies. For my first card, I used this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #162 for my layout and kept my card clean & simple for the most part with the focus on my watercolored flowers. Yes most of the time peonies are shades of pinks, but I started pulling out colors and decided I wanted something bolder and went with abandoned coral and festive berries distress ink to watercolor my peonies and twisted citron for the leaves.  I die cut the flowers from the set from watercolor paper, stamped them with black ink and watercolored each of them with distress ink.  I used a Hero Arts stencil for my background and sponged on some cracked pistachio distress ink.  I added my white vertical banner then my sentiment strip and adhered my vase and flowers.  To finish off this card, I tied on some black and white bakers twine and some black rhinestones. For my second card, I repeated some of the same steps as my first card with the stenciling and watercolored flower but used the Avery Elle Happy die cut which I die cut three times from black card stock and glued together.
To those of you who watch Downton Abbey, did you watch the finale last Sunday?  Ugh, it was so good and I'm so sad that it's over.

Skating By...

Hi there friends! Happy Thursday!  Today I have three cards that I created using the new Avery Elle Skating By stamp set and dies.  This is the first time I've ever ordered anything from Avery Elle, I've never used their stamps before and I have to tell you I'm impressed.  Ordering and delivery was easy and quick and the stamps needed no conditioning and stamped like a dream.   I saw this Skating By set months ago and fell in love with how cute and versatile it was, this set comes with several pieces you can interchange to create different scenes, it's so girly and super fun (I only stamped a few of the possibilities for my cards today). I kept the cards that I created today fairly simple with the focus on the stamped images.  For each card, I die cut the skater girl and colored her with Copic markers.  It doesn't show up in the pictures but after coloring each girl, I used my wink of stella glitter brush and added glitter to the bows, skates  and little bracelets.  I paired each skater girl with coordinating designer paper from my stash and die cut a scallop border edge.  For the red headed skater girl, I used the cute dash hound dog, for the blonde I used the balloons and the brunette the bubbles which I used Glossy Accents on to make them look wet. I'm going to be adding these cards to the small pile of cards I've created to send to the Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  This cause is dear to my heart ever since my youngest son was hospitalized to have a tumor removed from his spine.  While he was in the hospital (a week and a half total) any little thing to bring him joy and make him smile made staying there seem a little better, so if I can do the thing I love and make cards for kids that are stuck in the hospital, I'm going to do it (I usually create cards for this cause with my family after Thanksgiving dinner at our house but this year we weren't able to that).  While my son was in the hospital, I stayed there with him and while I was there I had the opportunity to talk to some of the nurses who told me that some kids come into the hospital and once their parent drops them off, the parents don't return for days which is heart breaking. God bless nurses everywhere. Once I have enough cards created I'm going to send them in.  I only wish I had more stamps and cards for boys, most of my stamps and cards are floral or girly. I'll have to remedy that ;) These cards were SO FUN to create!
