Thank You - (CTD442)

Hello there!  We have a new Color Throwdown Challenge that starts today but it's also a special Color Throwdown Challenge because each of the girls on the CTD design team are honoring our team leader, Barbara Anders as a way of saying thank you for keeping our team running smoothly and making the Color Throwdown possible.  Thank you for everything you do, Bar!  

For my thank you card, I used the new Papertrey Ink stamp set Gran's Garden along with the Mix & Mat: Scallops Die.  I started out with a white card base, added a panel of spring rain cardstock and a strip of classic kraft cardstock toward the bottom.  Next I used the Mix & Mat: Scallops die and die cut a piece of watercolor paper which I watercolored using some Jane Davenport bright watercolors.  After that I die cut and stamped my flowers and stems using harvest gold, summer sun (su), canyon clay, kraft and cocoa inks.  I used the PTI stamp set Thank You Kindly to stamp my sentiment in black ink and then adhered that panel using foam tape to my card front.  Then I added my stamped flowers and stems, popping up the top flower with foam tape and glued on some silver sequins.  I also added some copper Stickles glitter to the centers of each flower for some sparkle. Bundle of Joy

I was in need of a baby card for a baby shower I'm attending this weekend so I pulled out the Lawn Fawn stamp set Elphie Selfie along with the Elphie Selfie Lawn Cuts. For my card, I used a white card base and die cut a circle through the top portion, then backed it up with a piece of white cardstock I had blended on some spring rain ink and stamped a few clouds using the Lawn Fawn stamp set, Hello Sunshine.  Then I die cut a scalloped circle frame and glued that around the opening in the front of my card.  Next I die cut a piece of spring moss cardstock with the Grassy Hillside Border die and added that along with a piece of saffron cardstock which I stamped with my congratulations from the Scripty Sayings set.  On top of these pieces, I added a strip of blue gingham paper with an edge of scallop and tied on some black & white bakers twine.  Then came the fun part.  I stamped all of my images and colored them with Copic markers, adding some white gel pen for added detail, then die cut them out and adhered them to my card front with foam tape.  For the little banner, I stamped the bundle of joy from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Mega Mixed Messages onto a piece of saffron cardstock and cut it down and adhered it onto the front of the stamped and die cut banner from the Elphie Selfie set. Elphie Selfie Birthday - (CTD441)

Happy Wednesday and the first week of May! Are you ready for a new Color Throwdown Challenge?  I hope so because we have some pretty pastel colors for all of us to create with this week.  With the beginning of a new month, the Color Throwdown team is happy to have another talented Guest Designer joining us and this month we welcome, Amy Tsuruta.

For my card, I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set Elphie Selfie along with the coordinating Elphie Selfie Lawn Cuts to create a birthday card.  I started out by die cutting and oval into a white card base and adding a pale pink scalloped frame.  Then I used a piece of Lawn Fawn designer paper and taped it from the inside of my card over the die cut window.  Next I stamped my images from the Elphie Selfie set and colored them with Copic markers then die cut them out (the group of balloons was from the Bicycle Built for You set).  After arranging my images onto my card front, I used the Happy, Happy, Happy set and die cut the happy and stamped the birthday and once I knew I was good with that, I adhered my images with foam tape and glued on some sequins.  For more inspiration, check out the design teams' blog links below OR you can go to the Color Throwdown blog for details on how to play along and you can see all the sample entries in one location.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Hi there!  Today I'm popping in with a quick post to share a few fun tags I created for Teacher Appreciation Week for my son's teachers.  These were simple and quick to put together, I think it took me 25 minutes to make two sets.  I always try to remember my son's teacher's, this week and throughout the year with little treats just to let them know how much I appreciate all of their hard work.  I believe teachers don't get enough recognition and thanks for everything they do.   For my tags, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Apple Prints along with the coordinating dies, some real red, new leaf and black ink and some scrap yellow designer paper.  The Tags themselves were die cut using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Tags and I used a smaller circle die to die cut my designer paper and popped up some of the apples on each tag.  For the smaller tags I stamped the to & from from the Papertrey Ink stamp set, Tiny Tags.   As you can see in the photos above and below, there was no fancy wrapping involved, I simply packaged up the teacher goodies in clear bags and tied on the tags.  Each teacher's favorite pictured below, chocolate and microwave popcorn.
