Happy Mother's Day! Today I have a special card that I've created for my mom for Mother's Day to along with the gift I have for her and I hope she likes it. This is also not just any blog post but my 1000 post here on my little old blog. It's hard to believe almost five years ago I started this blog as a way of sharing what I love to do and connecting with people. I've met (in person and through the Internet) so many wonderful people and have learned so much through my years of stamping and card making. As a way of saying thank you to the people who visit, subscribe and leave sweet comments on my cards and projects, I have a gift. I'm giving away a $15.00 gift certificate to Papertrey Ink, and all you have to do is leave me a comment here on this post and tell me "What is (or was) your most favorite gift that you have ever given or received on Mother's Day". One comment per person please. I'll be choosing the winner Tuesday after 4pm EST. Good luck!
To create my mom's card I used Jen's May
Sketch For You to Try for my layout and as my inspiration I used the
Shabby Tea Room Challenge #113 "Pretty as a Pitcher", the challenge was to create a card using a pitcher, the colors from the inspiration photo and a rose. Well I didn't have a pitcher so I went with the teapot from the Papertrey Ink
Tea for Two stamp set. I started out with a crumb cake card base, added a white panel with a piece of Crate Paper (Emma's Shoppe Collection) designer paper on top. Then added the floral October Afternoon designer paper and yellow gingham strips with border and tied on my ribbon. For my main image I used the PTI stamp sets
Garden Variety II with seed packet die,
Year of Flowers Titles,
Tea for Two with teapot die and
Rosie Posie with dies. I stamped the die cut seed frame in crumb cake and the "Roses" in ruby red, then die cut the teapot from the back side of the red polka dot designer paper and stamped the outline. I backed the seed frame with another piece of October Afternoon designer paper and arranged my teapot, leaves and roses then taped them down popping a single rose. For my final touches I added a row of pearls to the bottom strip of gingham paper, the mom tag, paper rose and two stick pins.
Supplies: Tea for Two & die, Garden Variety II & die, Rosie Posie & dies, Tiny Tags & die, Year of Flowers Titles, Filigree Border die, Crate Paper designer paper, October Afternoon designer paper, Seam binding, Daffodil Delight reinker, Paper rose, Stick pins, Copic markers, Taylor Expressions Leafy die, Pearls, Foam tape. Colors: Crumb Cake, Ruby Red, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight. To all of the Mom's out there, I hope you have a relaxing and peaceful day doing what you enjoy.
Wow, Lynn... this card is absolutely AMAZING!!!! Your mom will be floored by its beauty! (Now stop enabling me with Papertrey...LOL!)
ReplyDeleteI don't have one specific favorite Mother's Day gift but I love all the homemade gifts my boys have made for me over the years. It doesn't get any more special than that!
Happy Mother's Day to you, too! Hope you enjoy your day!
What a gorgeous card for your mom - you are so inspiring! I think my favorite Mother's Day gift ever was a tea pot card that my son made me when he was in Kindergarten. So cute! I kept it for the longest time!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, Lynn! This is beautiful! The colours and design are perfect! The eyes just keeping finding something new to look at!!! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you my friend!!!
This is such a gorgeous card! My most memorable Mother's Day gift was a card I made for my mom in kindergarten. She still has it today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card! I got a wonderful gift this morning when my 11 yr old son woke up and said "Happy Mother's Day, mom" without any prompting or reminders!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your "1000th" post. I have your blog on my GR so I do not miss a single inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think I've been following from almost the very beginning. Your cards are always so amazingly executed, so neatly done and with such great details. Congratulations on 1000 posts! I've only been a mom for 6 years, but I would have to say that this year was the best. My kindergartener made me the most sweetest framed picture of herself. I know I will keep it forever. Happy Mother's Day! I know your mother will love your beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1000th post! LOVE your card!
ReplyDeleteLynn, your card is gorgeous! I love how you tucked that teapot in there and used it to hold the roses! I'm sure your mother loved it! The best Mother's day gift was a beautiful garnet bracelet my daughter gave me.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delightful! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn! THUD. I am typing this on the floor since that's where I landed after being blown away by this card! Oh MY word girl! This is a gorgeous creation! Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens... stunning card! Love your flower tea pot and flowers! Thank you so much for sharing it with us in The Shabby Tea Room this week!
ReplyDeleteOver the top gorgeous card, Lynn - love it! Happy Mother's Day to you, too! Now that my kids are all grown and have left us as empty nesters, I look back at their handmade cards from grade school and cherish the love and unique drawings they created from the heart!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous rose theme. Rosie Poise is one of my favourites! Happy Mother Day to you too! I think my most favourite mothers day present was one I got from my 7yo daughter this year. A bunch of flowers made from paper and egg carton. Love that she loves craft as much as me :)

ReplyDeleteStunning card! Love all the elements you used with gorgeous color! Big congrats on your win this past week in the Shabby Tea Room!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1000th! The card is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe best gift my brother and I gave was his freshman year of college. He told Mom he wasn't coming home that weekend because of finals and 'I'll be home in two weeks anyway'. Of course, she was disappointed, but didn't tell him. I invited her to our house for lunch 'since he's not coming home'. That day she came over, walked in, I said 'Happy Mothers Day, I'm so glad I have you to myself this year' and she smiled sadly....then he walked out of the bedroom 'hi, Mom'. She cried and cried and cried. It was great!
This is absolutely GORGEOUS! LOVE the fresh mix of colors and patterns! This makes me smile!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such an incredible card today! I absolutely LOVE all the details you've included. I bet your Mom just went crazy when she opened it.
ReplyDeleteI am not a mom, but my Mom has started to give us gifts on Mother's Day. My favorite is the necklace she gave me this year that says Mom & Jodi. It's so pretty, I just love it. My favorite gift that I gave her was her Brighton bracelet, ladybug & bee charms. The ladybug & bee represent our 2 dogs. I have them also, so it's very special that we have the same charms representing my special fur babies.
what a nice card ! I think the best gift I received was hand made cards my children gave me when they were young ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis card is beautiful! Congrats on winning!!

ReplyDeleteThis is a great card and one that your mom was probably thrilled to get! Congratulations on your 1000th post! The best thing I ever got would be the handmade trinkets from my kids every year. I love the stuff they make and this year I got a painted clay pot with a spider plant in it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1000th post! Your card is lovely. I am sure your mother loved it. You are very good at creating Shabby Chic. Love the papers you chose. The flower is so beautiful. Love the bow.
ReplyDeleteIts so hard to pick out my favorite Mother's Day gift. That's like saying which child is your favorite. However, what i love the most are the handwritten words and handmade cards/gifts.
GORGEOUS card!!!! Love all the different elements.
ReplyDeleteNo Mom's Day gifts as no little ones for me.
Have a FAB day! :)
