A Sad Day...

Yes, that's right this is a sad day.  If you've visited the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge blog then you already know the news, but if you haven't here it is......today marks the very last Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Karen thought that ending the challenge at the 300 mark and the end of the year was the best way to end the challenge.  
Yes I feel a little emotional about the SSSC ending for several reasons.  I've been with the team since the very beginning (that was SIX years ago and a whole lot of SSSC cards!) and I will miss all of the talented girls from our team, I'll miss our fun conversations and laughs behind the scenes.  I'll never forget when Karen asked if I'd like to join the team and how excited I was, it was an honor then and still is to work with Karen's wonderful sketches and such talented women.  Thank you, Karen and all of the girls from our team for inspiring me each and every Sunday. Sniff, sniff :( For my card, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Shape Up Snowman and Wonderful Words: Holiday along with the coordinating dies.  I also used a PTI picnic plaid impressions plate, banner die and holly die with some rhinestones.   The card below is from my very first Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge post and since I chose snowmen as my image then, I thought it only fitting that I go with a snowman for my last Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge card today.

Merriest of Holidays

Hello!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I haven't been posting here on my blog all that much lately because I've been busy trying to get everything in order for Christmas here at our house.  So far so good, house is decorated, Christmas cards are out, shopping is coming along and tomorrow I start my baking.  Hopefully it's a less stressful Christmas as long as I can keep things rolling. For my card today, I used the Papertrey Ink Winter Woods stamp set and dies to create a Christmas card.  I started out with a white card base, then for my background panel I embossed just the top portion with snowflakes and stamped my sentiment along the bottom.  Next I added a strip of pure poppy cardstock and a die cut circle of watercolor paper which I watercolored in broken china distress ink.  After that I die cut and stamped my pine branches & berries and watercolored a bit of the pine to add more color, then adhered that to my card.  The red cardinal was die cut and stamped and added with foam adhesive.  As a final touch I added some glaze pen to the berries.

 Hello, crafty friends!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

For my card I used the adorable My Favorite Things stamp set I Knead You to create a fun little card for my daughter.  I ended up switching around the layout so my focal image was on the lower right side of my card.  I used a white card base and added a layer of so saffron cardstock with a layer of polka dot embossed pretty in pink on top, then added strips of so saffron cardstock on a diagonal.  Once that was in place, I stamped a white square of cardstock with my sentiments and matted that with aqua mist cardstock and adhered it to my card front.   I die cut and stamped the cat & mouse images and colored them using Copic markers (I colored the cat to look like our cat Chloe) and used foam adhesive to adhere them to my card.  As an extra detail, I added three enamel dots and some glitter to the cats bow.

 In the picture below you can see how I added some wink of stella glitter pen to the pink bow around the cats neck.

Hi there!  I'm popping in today to share two cards that I created using the Papertrey Ink stamp set Cup of Cheer.  I also used this week's PTI Make-it-Monday #233 where Danielle shares her tips for the splattering technique. For my first card, I used the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #215 for my layout and for both of my cards I used inspiration photo from the Fusion Challenge.  For this card I used a piece of hawaiian shores card stock for along the top of my card and randomly stamped it with the flower images that came with the set.  For the lower portion, I used watercolor paper and I sponged on some hawaiian shores ink then added some water droplets and splatters until I was satisfied with the look.  For both cards I die cut and stamped the teapot, cups and flowers and then went back and added a bit of shading to the flowers with Copic markers.  For a little extra sparkle, I used a piece of double sided tape along the bottom of my stamped hawaiian shores piece and dusted on some iridescent glitter and added a rhinestone to the center of the main flower.

For my second card there's not much that is different other than the layout where I used a die cut circle as my base for the teapot and cup and I die cut a PTI banner and stamped my sentiment.

Hi there!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

The card I have for today is a clean and simple snowman Christmas card using the fun Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes stamp set.  I'm also entering this card in the Merry Monday Challenge  #181.

November Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Good morning!  Today is the Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop.  The inspiration for this month's hop is the photo below with it's wintery whites and pop of blues, teals, green and silver.

After just receiving the new Winter Woods stamp set and Cover Plate, I decided to create a card using my new supplies.  I started out with a piece of soft stone cardstock to 4"x 5 1/4" and heat embossed it using the stamp from the Winter Woods set that looks like falling snow then I sponged along the top with gray ink.  Once that was done, I adhered that to a soft stone card base.  After that, I die cut two of the Winter Woods Cover Plate, one in white and one in gray.  Then I stamped the white tree trunks to make them look like birch trees, added a little shading along one side using a Copic marker and then glued the white stamped die cut piece to the gray piece shifting it a bit so that it shadowed the white trees.  The next thing I did was to stamp my blue jay and adhere him using foam tape, then I added a strip of silver cardstock, my sentiment banner and a snowflake with a button center along the bottom of the card.

Winter Woods

Hello!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

The card I have for today uses the new PTI Winter Woods stamp set and dies.  I kept my card fairly clean and simple with a white card base and a white background panel which I heat embossed with iridescent embossing powder and the dotted stamp image that comes with this set.  Next I stamped my sentiment along the bottom right corner, added a strip and small banner of ocean tides cardstock and added my die cut and stamped tree branch.  Once that was all in place I added my red cardinal with foam adhesive and some glitter on some of the branches.
