Hello Birthday Boy - {C4C#271}

Hi there!  I hope you're doing well.  This week's Crazy-4-Challenges is about creating a masculine birthday card.  I don't know about you but I always struggle when it comes to creating a masculine card, maybe because I have so many floral stamp sets and not that many sets for boys/men.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Phrase Play #3 with coordinating die and Ombre Builders.  I also used two star punches, corner rounder, enamel dots, polka dot embossing folder and a PTI star border die.
Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has created:

I hope you'll dig out your masculine stamp sets and play along with us this week!

Valentine's Day Tag - {TYIC#14}

Hello!  The Tag You're It design team is back in action this month and I'm glad to still be a part of the team.  Our guest designer for challenge #14 is the talented Debby Hughes.  I'm an admirer of Debby's work, her projects always have such a clean and gorgeous look.
For my tag, I used the Mama Elephant stamp set Pandamonium along with the Mama Elephant creative cuts for the tag and die cut hearts at the bottom of my tag.  After die cutting two tags, one black with white polka dots and one from white cardstock, I then die cut the hearts along the white tag and then embossed the top half using an embossing folder.  Then I masked off the top half of my tag with a post-it note and sponged on some picked raspberry distress ink over my hearts.  Once that was done, I used a piece of double sided tape above my sponged area and added some silver glitter.  For my sentiment, I used white embossing powder to heat emboss on a small black banner and added that just above the hearts.  The last things I added where my stamped and die cut panda, the heart he's holding and a few rhinestones.

Thanks for visiting!

Hearts & Flowers - {SSSC253/PTI Blog Hop}

Hi there friends!  Today I've got a Valentine card to share, which is for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch and for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop which is all about hearts.
I'm late with my post for today, yesterday was one of my daughter's dance competitions out of town and even though I had my card made, I didn't have it photographed or my post typed up and was too tired to come home last night to get it done.  But better late then never right?
After looking at the Papertrey Ink inspiration photo, I found myself drawn toward the upper right hand corner picture of the paper chain of hearts with roses on them so that's what I tried to infuse in my card.  I started out with a raspberry fizz card base, a strip of regal rose and a matted piece of raspberry fizz designer paper.  Then I used the Shakers & Sprinkles heart dies and die cut the scalloped border heart out of vellum and the center heart out of a piece of music note paper and heat embossed the edges with gold.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set The Sweet Life for my roses and leaves and I popped up the music note heart with foam tape as well as the top rose which was stamped with raspberry fizz and red ink.  I also used the Keep it Simple: Valentine set and banner die for my sentiment and after stamping my leaves I did a little gold heat emboss on those as well.

Thinking of You - {C4C#270}

Hello there! This week's Crazy-4-Challenges is all about opposites, think black and white, stripes and polka dots, mirror image or for the card I have for today, opposites on the color wheel (blue & orange).
I used the fun Lawn Fawn stamp sets You're a Hoot and Starry Backdrops along with the Hero Arts set Everyday Sayings for my sentiment.  I started out with a white card base, then used the star stamp from the Starry Backdrops set with some versa mark ink and clear embossing powder to emboss them where I knew my square cut out window would be.  Next I used some peacock feathers distress ink and blended the ink over the embossed stars.  I stamped my sentiment on to my white card front after die cutting the square opening and added foam tape onto the back of it and adhered it to my card front. I die cut and stamped my orange owl, branch and leaves and added them into the square opening, popping up the owl with more foam tape.

Happy Birthday - {SSSC252}

Hi there friends!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.
For my card I used the Mama Elephant stamp sets Pandamonium and Happy Everything along with the coordinating dies to create a birthday card.  A few details: I die cut the "happy" three times and layered them together to make it pop, I added some glossy accents to the balloon after I colored it with Copic markers and I added a few iridescent sequins for a little sparkle.

Happy Valentine's Day - {C4C#269}

Hello! It is the 3rd Saturday of the month over at the Crazy-4-Challenges site and that means it is SKETCH TIME!
For my card I ended up flipping the sketch and using the Papertrey Ink stamp set Keep It Simple Valentine along with the Hearts Die cover plate and some pure poppy patterned paper.  For a little bit of detail, I added some heart shaped buttons with bakers twine.

Thinking of You - {SSSC251/MIM196}

 Hi everyone!  It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Our sketch for this week was designed by our own Barbara Anders.
I ended up flipping the sketch for my card and well I had all the colors from creating one of my last cards out on my desk, I created another for the Papertrey Ink Make-it-Monday Challenge #196: Colorful Corners and also used the PTI color inspiration for this month as well.  I used the stamp sets Beautiful Butterflies and Bigger Blooms.  For the butterfly I die cut some watercolor paper, inked the butterfly up in blueberry then rolled the edges in Hawaiian shores ink then stamped it.  After that I added a little water to blend the colors, let that dry and added some glitter.
Be sure to check out what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stamper have created:
That's it for me today, thanks for popping in!

Hello Friend - {C4C#268}

Hello!  Are you ready to find out what this week's challenge is over at the Crazy4Challenges site?  It's a fun one!  Last week's challenge was to create a clean and simple card so this week....

We started this month with a clean slate, right? How do you like this “bare” craft room? What you would put in this room? What supplies came to your mind first?
The challenge is to take the first things you thought of (in addition to stamps and paper) and use them on your card.

After looking at the photo above, the first thing I thought I'd put in the bare craft room would be my Big Shot machine.  I use my Big Shot die cutting machine on almost every card I make, so if you look at the card I have for today, you can see that most of the pieces on my card have been either die cut or embossed using my Big Shot.  This card is actually a re-make of a card I created last year, I used the same layout but switched up the colors and flowers and gave it a fresh new look.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Friendly Flowers, Turning a New Leaf and the sentiment from Embroidered Blooms.

PTI Make-it-Monday #196

Good day to you!  I hope you're doing well.  It's been a while since I've played along with the Papertrey Ink Make-it-Monday Challenges, but when I saw Danielle's beautiful cards and video for this Monday's challenge I knew I wanted to join in.

This week's Make-it-Monday Challenge is all about Colorful Card Corners.  I also used this month's Papertrey Ink Color Play Combo which are the colors below.
 For my card, I used the limited edition stamp set Pretty Petals for the flowers and leaves and the circular medallion was from the set Friendly Flowers.  I used the set Bigger Blooms for my sentiment (love the font on all the sentiments from this set).  I started out with a Hawaiian shores card base, then used a piece of watercolor paper cut slightly smaller to stamp my images. After that I went in with a paint brush, like Danielle shows in her video and added a light wash of color around my stamped images and softened the edges of my flowers and leaves.  I added a few silver sequins to give my card some sparkle and mounted it with foam tape to my card base.

Thanks for stopping by!
