PTI June Blog Hop - Birthday Posie

Hello and welcome!  Today is the Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop, the inspiration for this month's hop is the photo of these pretty pillows below.
As much as I wish I had the blue green color in these pillows, I don't (need to add that with my next order) so I went with what I had. There is so much great texture and pattern in this photo but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use the PTI stamp set Rosie Posie as my main image. I started out with a taken with teal card base, then added a white panel. Then I added a panel of cool Caribbean which I stamped using the rose and leaf stamps from the set to give the look of the larger pillow. I used some My Mind's Eye yellow and white check designer paper and layered that with some yellow diecut scallops and topped it off with some velvet ribbon to give the look of the ruffled yellow pillow from the inspiration photo. And finally I used a circle for my main image (like the small circle pillow) and popped the yellow rose, added my banner sentiment, button and bling and I was good to go.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the Hop!

SSSC161/CQC141 - Hello Sweet Friend

Hello and Happy Father's Day!  It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, Karen has another fabulous sketch for all of us to play with.  On top of that Karen is also holding a Sweet Sunday Casting Call, for anyone who is interested in joining our fun team.  For all of the details you can see the form below and visit Karen's blog by clicking here.
For my card I used the PTI stamp set Heart-2-Heart along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch #161 and the Colour Queen Challenge #141.  I started out with a night of navy card base, then added a panel of brocade blue with the top portion embossed.  I positioned and taped down my two banners, then added a horizontal night of navy piece that I had stamped using the PTI Medallions.  After that I taped a row of border hearts in bashful blue across the middle, added my matted image piece and two buttons.
To play along create a card using Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, then go to Karen’s blog The Sweetest Thing and link your card so we can all see your creation!

Be sure to visit each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers below for more samples using this week’s sketch!

Lovely as a Tree

Hi there!  Are you gearing up for Father's Day this Sunday?  I know we are, every year we have a combination Father's Day/birthday party for my daughter who was born on Father's Day and it's always lot of fun.  Today I'm sharing two clean and simple masculine birthday cards that I've created.  I used the same supplies for both cards but switched up the layouts and tree images from the Stampin' Up stamp set Lovely as a Tree.  The designer paper is My Mind's Eye, both card bases are chocolate chip with some natural and crumb cake cardstock.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Mega Mixed Messages and the background stamp is also a PTI set, Houndstooth.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I'll be back on Sunday with my card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

CTD196 - Basket Full of Fun

It's time for the Color Throwdown, our hostess for this week's challenge is Danielle who has chosen some lovely colors along with a fun inspiration photo for us to create with.

I used this week's color challenge to create two cards for a card order I'm finishing up and if you can believe it I actually used a retired Stampin' Up stamp set.  I hung on to the SU Basket Full of Fun stamp set because I knew it was a set I'd use again.  The person I created these cards for is a knitter and is in a knitting class and wanted a few cards made up using this set.  For the image I stamped the basket, then masked off the basket and stamped the balls of yarn.  I used my aqua brush and ink pads to add in some color, then went back in with my Copic markers to add some shading.

Supplies: Basket Full of Fun - SU, Polka Dot embossing folder, Ribbon, Button, Aqua brush, Copics, TE Scallop border die, Foam tape.

Teacher Gifts

Hello!  Today is the last day of school for my three kids and as a thank you to my youngest son's teacher and teacher's aid I put together some goodie baskets.  Both baskets are a combination of Bath & Body Works products with some Target dollar spot items.  The plastic strawberry containers were also purchased at Target.

The first basket has a strawberry theme with hand soap, candle, pens, post-its and gum (this basket smells so good).  For the tag I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Strawberry Patch with coordinating dies.  I die cut two of the PTI tags, one for my son to sign and one to decorate.  Along the bottom of the tag I added a strip of red and white checked designer paper and a row of heart border.

The second basket for the teacher's aid has a lemon theme and was filled with hand soap, candle, post-its and to do list.
For the tag I used the Stampin' Up stamp set Tart & Tangy to stamp the lemons and the PTI stamp set Fillable Frames #5 for the thank you sentiment.
These were easy and fun to put together and I hope the teachers like them.

Summer has officially begun!

CTD195/rs14 - Four of a Kind Birthday

Hello there friends!  It's time for the Color Throwdown and our hostess for this week is the talented Broni who has chosen some lovely pastel colors along with a pretty inspiration photo.

For my card I used the Retro Sketches Challenge #14 for my layout and the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Four of a Kind and Beautiful Butterflies for my sentiment.  I really liked the poppy flowers in vases from the inspiration photo and thought that the flowers from the Four of a Kind stamp set would give me the look I wanted.  There are so many great ideas you could pull from the inspiration photo, everything from the teacup, flowers, vases and jars.  It's difficult to see from the photos, but I added a touch of glitter to the blush blossom stamped dots that are stamped throughout the flowers.
Supplies: Four of a Kind, Beautiful Butterflies, Filigree border die, Butterfly die, Ribbon, Button, Polka Dot embossing folder, Glitter, Corner Rounder.  Colors: Barley Banana, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, Blush Blossom.

Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown challenge!
