CTD#227 - Simply Jane

Hello and good morning!  It's my turn as hostess over at the Color Throwdown and since Valentine's Day is coming up, I chose a romantic color palette and inspiration photo for us to create with this week.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Simply Jane, The Sweet Life and Think Big Favorites to create a feminine looking birthday card.  I started out with a crumb cake card base, then a panel of vanilla and for my background, regal rose which I stamped with roses from The Sweet Life set.  I then stamped my sentiment along the bottom and added my banner.  After that I die-cut, stamped and heat embossed with clear embossing powder the frame from the Simply Jane set and added that and my die-cut and stamped cameo.  The last thing that I added was some small pearls to the cameo and my die-cut and stamped rose and leaves which I popped up using foam tape.
Be sure to visit the other Color Throwdown design team members for more inspiration using this week's color challenge!

PTI January Blog Hop - 50 and Fabulous!

Happy Friday!  Today is the Papertrey Ink's January Blog Hop and the theme for this month's hop is to use the color BLACK.  Since I was in need of a birthday card for my sister-in-law this week I decided to use this challenge for her card.
After looking at the PTI inspiration photo above I decided to combine the color black with a tag (upper right hand corner of the photo) and use a die-cut negative for my numbers (bottom center) along with brightly colored flowers (upper left of photo).  I used the PTI stamp sets Embroidered Blooms (love this set since embroidery and cross stitch were my first love before card making), Turning a New Leaf and Big Birthday Wishes.  I took my cue from Nichole's beautiful card where she heat embossed on black cardstock on her background, I did the same on my card and really like the effect.  On the pink background of the die-cut negative of the numbers I stamped the flowers from the Embroidered Blooms to add some texture and several pieces on my card were popped up using foam tape to give some dimension.
Have a great day and enjoy the hop!

CTD#226 - With Sympathy

Hello friends!  Are you ready for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge?  I hope so because our hostess Denise has chosen some pretty colors for all of us to create with this week.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Rosie Posie, Think Big Favorites and Turning a New Leaf to create a sympathy card for some dear friends of mine who lost their father.  I started out with a garden green card base which I embossed with a PTI impressions plate, then added my white panel that I had stamped with my sentiment, stamped off leaves and perfect plum dots.  Next I added my die-cut roses with coordinating leaves and a few small pearls surrounding them to finish my card off.
Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

SSSC#176 - Bee Mine

Hi there and good morning!  It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #176.  Our talented  Sweet Sunday Sketch team member Vicki Burdick designed today's sketch and I know you're going to love it as much as I do.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Honey Bee to create a Valentine's Day card.  I decided to go with a square card instead of a standard sized card.  I used some retired SU designer paper, a Martha Steward scallop border punch, Nestabilite dies and some PTI flower and banner dies.  The bee was stamped in black and pretty in pink ink, then glittered up and cut out and as a finishing touch to my card I added a heart button with bakers twine and two heart stick pins.
Be sure to visit each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers below for more samples using the SSS sketch!

CTD#225 - Happy Birthday to YOU

Happy Wednesday!  There's a new Color Throwdown Challenge that starts today and we hope you'll play along.  Our hostess for this week is Kerri who chose these fantastic colors.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set All About YOU with the coordinating die to create a birthday card.  I kept the layout clean and simple with the addition of the polka dot embossing on the top panel and the Simple Stripes embossing on the bottom, a scallop border, large horizontal banner and two MFT die cut flowers with rhinestones.
Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

CTD#224 - Happy Hexagons

It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.  Our hostess for this week is Lori who chose our pretty color pallet and inspiration photo.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Think Big Favorites #12 for my sentiment and the Happy Hexagon and scallop border dies to create a quilted look using this week's colors.  I pulled different colors and patterns from my stash of My Mind's Eye designer papers to die cut using the hexagon die and arranged them on my card, added my almost amethyst lower panel with sentiment, scallop border piece, ribbon and buttons to complete my card.
