RS#26 - Happy Haunting

Happy Saturday!  This is my second post for today, so if you're looking for my Our Creative Corner/ Papertrey Ink Blog Hop post please see below.  It's time for a new Retro Sketches Challenge (RS26)!  I'm sad to write that this is the last Saturday of the month and that my time as a Retro Sketches Headliner has come to an end.  I've really enjoyed working with the talented women on the team and designing cards using the fun sketches each week.
The sketch for this week's challenge was created by this week's Retro Sketches guest designer Danielle Daws.
Yes, this is a Halloween card the first one for this year, I couldn't resist since I just received my PTI order and this adorable Happy Haunting set was part of it.

Supplies: Happy Haunting + die, Mat Stack 5, Oval dies, Chevron Stripes border die, Button, Bakers twine, Embossing folder, Corner rounder, Foam tape.  Colors: Basic Black, Only Orange, Kiwi Kiss.

Exciting News - Nut'n Better Gift Set

Hello everyone!  Yep I've got some exciting news, I'm this week's guest designer over at the Our Creative Corner blog!  The hostess for this week is Kim Price and the theme for her challenge is Recycle, along with using something resalvaged/recycled on your card or project she asks that you also use the color green.
The projects I have for today, I'm also entering in for this month's Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop.  As you can see from the PTI inspiration photos below, the challenge was to create a project with texture, something with either herringbone, tweed, burlap, felt, corduroy, houndstooth or argyle which I attempted to do with my gift set.
For my card and jar full of nuts I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Autumn Acorns and Modern Wood Mats.  For the recycled material on my two projects I used cardboard, the corrugated banner and die cut border on my card and the corrugated cardboard tag for my gift jar.  I've incorporated the color green into my projects with the designer paper and acorns and I've also embossed a herringbone pattern into my background panel and used an Autumn color palette.

Supplies:  Autumn Acorn + dies, Modern Wood Mats, Mat Stack die, Banner die, Chevron die, Ribbon, Herringbone embossing folder, Button, Twine, Cardboard, Nestie dies, We R Memory Keepers designer paper, Jar, Foam tape.  Colors: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Really Rust, Old Olive.

Well that's it in a nut shell for me (pardon the pun), I hope you'll join in for this week's OCC challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!

RS#25 - Strawberry Wishes

Hi there friends!  It's Saturday and my turn over at the Retro Sketches Challenge blog to share my sketch which was taken from this card I created for a card order.  I really hope you like the sketch and that you'll take the time to play along this week!  I'd love to see what everyone comes up with using this layout.

For my re-designed card using the sketch, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Strawberry Patch and Think Big Favorites #16.  I also jumped in on the Colour Queen Challenge #150 because I loved these bright colors.  I'm a little rusty on using my Copic markers since I haven't used them in months but I did add a bit of shading to this strawberry image after stamping in the colors for the leaves and strawberries.
Supplies: Strawberry Patch, Think Big Favorites #16, Copic markers, Ribbon, Button, Bakers twine, Scallop border die, Foam tape.

CTD205 - Smiles

It's Wednesday and time for another Color Throwdown Challenge.  This week the talented Joan is our hostess and she's chosen some lovely colors along with a pretty inspiration photo.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Natural Beauties and stamped the floral images from the set onto my background panel, then used a woodgrain impressions plate to give it some texture.  On top of that I added my lavender Mat Stack 4 die cut and stamped piece, ribbon and oval sentiment with buttons.  The butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set was die cut, stamped and adhered with glue dots to the lower right corner.
Supplies: Natural Beauties, Mat Stack 4 +die, Beautiful Butterflies + die, Oval dies, Woodgrain Impression plate, Ribbon, Buttons, Foam tape.

RS#24/CQC#149 - Hello Buttercup!

Hi there!  It's time for this week's Retro Sketches Challenge #24.  The sketch for this week was based on Laurie's pretty card which you can see here.

For my card I not only used the Retro Sketch for my layout but also used the colors from the Colour Queen Challenge #149.  I kept my card clean and simple, I started out with a garden green (didn't have gumball green), then added a panel of night of navy (no midnight muse either), then added an embossed panel of white.  To get the circular shape from the sketch I used a doily and then layered the two shades of green die cut leaves and "buttercup" yellow flower with button.
Supplies: Signature Greetings II, Turning a New Leaf + dies, Flower die, Grid Impressions Plate, Doily, Button.

Be sure to stop over at the Retro Sketches blog to see Arielle, Kasia and Laurie's creations using this fun sketch.

Have a great day!
